  1. No one hurt

Made Dec 16, 2015, sent to the company Dec 24, 2015, published by CPSC Jan 19, 2016

The product, in the report: Small sports drink bottle with pull up top. It has a pencil eraser sized ball inside the drinking spout that comes out.

I am a school nurse and I have had x 3 reports of a center plastic piece coming out of the small drink bottles while the child is drinking it and they swallow it. I am concerned because the size of the balls are about the size of the end of an eraser. I have children with small airway openings. If this were to get lodged into their throat it could be very hard to remove. I feel that it poses as a potential choking hazard. I called Merrytime Products Diversified, 6005 Lake Road, Marshall, TX 75672, 1-800-766-7344 and reported the problem. The person I spoke with told me that it takes effort to remove this piece. However, I was concerned of a possible defect and choking hazard. I called CPS and they said I was the first to report this. I have encouraged the parents to also report too. I am just so very concerned that a small child could choke on this. I don’t think it should be able to be removed at all by a child even with effort and they should correct this to do everything possible to prevent a child from being harmed.
