Hurt, no treatment Made Aug 13, 2022, sent to the company Aug 19, 2022, published by CPSC Sep 2, 2022
The product, in the report: Contigo AUTOPOP Water Bottle, 20oz, Dragon Fruit Lid
I ordered 2 Contigo 20oz stainless steel AUTOPOP water bottles on Amazon - 1 with a blue lid (for my son) and 1 with a dragon friut colored lid (for my daughter). These replaced 2 older contigo stainless steel water bottles from prior school years. Both arrived appearing new and in original packaging. I washed both in warm soapy water and my children used them on their 1st day of school. After school, I poured out the small amount of remaining water from the bottles and questioned the appearance of the little bit of water left in my daughter’s bottle -- it looked slightly hazy or particulate. I washed both water bottles and then looked inside of my daughter’s. It appeared different than the other - more fuzy and unfinished. I rinsed it several more times and used a cotton wash cloth as well. It continued to appear more particulate and feel less smooth than the other new 1 and older ones as well when compared to each other. It continued to look and feel more unpolished - like it has tiny loose metal fibers. In an attempt to discern whether it was just a difference in appearance or truly had loose metal fibers, I took a black handkerchief and wiped around the inside of both new water bottles. The black cloth is unchanged in appearance after wiping the inside of the normal appearing bottle. The cloth appears shiny and grey/silver after wiping the inside of the atypical appearing water bottle. My daughter is a brain tumor survivor. She gets regular MRI’s to make sure her tumor isn’t growing back. I am extremely concerned that my daughter has not only ingested metal fibers from her contigo water bottle, but also about them remaining in her body and her potential exposure to the metals and whatever else was used in the incomplete finishing of the inside of her water bottle. I am also concerned that these fragments may remain inside her body and have the potential to cause pain or internal damage during an MRI.

The product, in the report: Blue Contigo water bottle with a blue/black lid. Also a green Contigo water bottle with a green/black lid.
While using 1 of our multiple Contigo water bottles, the spout came apart from the lid, becoming loose in my child’s mouth. I immediately removed the bottle and properly realigned the spout in the lid. I just became aware of the recall and that is why I’m reporting this. This has happened multiple times with our Contigo water bottles.

No one hurt Made Feb 21, 2020, sent to the company Mar 12, 2020, published by CPSC Apr 2, 2020
The product, in the report: The lid, spout, and straw of the plastic contigo water bottles that have also been recalled multiple times for the spot coming off.
The contigo water bottles are continually filled with mold and impossible to clean. We use them for water only and clean them regularly, but the sprouts, straw, and seals keep getting mold that is near impossible to clean, even when taking it apart the best I can. I have bought so many of these bottles over the last year for so because they are finally a bottle that doesn’t leak, but now I am just stuck with mold instead.

The product, in the report: The incident involved the REPLACEMENT CUP I received due to the Contigo® Kids Cleanable Water Bottle sold from April 2018 through June 2019. It was the girls replacement 13/14oz option 2.
Incident involves the replacement cups I received due to the recent recall of the Contigo® Kids Cleanable Water Bottle sold from April 2018 through June 2019. I followed the return process and received two replacement cups. Yesterday 10/28/19 while my two year old was drinking from the new replacement cup the clear silicone spout on the top slipped off and into her mouth almost choking. I emailed contigo and called them. They provided me with claim #[REDACTED]. They were originally going to replace again with the same cups they already sent with the first round of recalled cups. Told them that was unacceptable and the replacement product is defective also as my daughter almost choked. I got them to replace with another style cup - [REDACTED].

No one hurt Made Oct 21, 2019, sent to the company Nov 15, 2019, published by CPSC Dec 2, 2019
The product, in the report: Contigo kids water bottle, easy clean lid design. Blue with sharks. Indents on inside of cup indicate that it is not part of the earlier recall.
I was happy to see Contigo cups at Target today after the recall and bought my son a 2-pack. I washed it according to the instructions and gave it to him. This evening, the spout came off in his mouth and very easily could have choked him. Thankfully we caught it in time. He was not using it inappropriately, just drinking water. It was only washed and used one time.

No one hurt Made Dec 3, 2018, sent to the company Dec 12, 2018, published by CPSC Feb 6, 2019
The product, in the report: Contigo Striker Kids Water Bottle 10 oz. Stainless Steel, Autospout
I purchased a Contigo Autospout water bottle for my toddler to use. I followed the instructions for care, storage, and maintenance as supplied by Contigo. however, upon cracking open the straw casing of her water bottle I discovered mass amounts of mold. I reviewed, once again, the care instructions from Contigo, and this portion of the water bottle is not designed to come apart or to have access for cleaning. The concern lies in the fact that this product is marketed for kids and does not have access available for proper cleaning to prevent the build up of potentially harmful mold.

The product, in the report: Contigo AUTOSPOUT® Straw Striker 14 oz., 3.3” w , 7.8” h, bpa-free plastic body body
I have 6 of the Contigo AUTOSPOUT® Straw Striker cups and they all have developed mold in the silicone drinking spout which cannot be removed for washing. I have always followed exact directions on washing these cups. The mold is very hard to see at first and once I did notice it had so much it freaked me out knowing my child had been drinking out of this. I tried to write a review on their website just stating that it had mold and with pictures, saying nothing more negative about it than that and they would not publish it but then contacted me directly to “solve the problem”

The product, in the report: Contigo Gizmo Water Bottle tops
Contigo Autospout Gizmo Kids Water Bottles have tops that cannot be cleaned properly because the valves do not come out of the spout. As a result, mold grows in the spout. There is a YouTube video posted by another parent and I have pictures of my tops. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gDZgwinsws
I contacted the company and they did not address the concern nor would they replace the tops. Please see my attached pictures
