The product, in the report: Container cap closure for swimming pool one gallon supply to bring water to PH balance
This consumer is reporting that on May 24, 2018 he purchased one gallon container of Muriatic Acid to place pool at PH Balance. This was advised/prescribed by Seasonal World after testing water from his pool. The driver did not notice any leakage from the container when he placed it in the car at a very slight tilt but within 15 seconds, before he left the parking lot he could not breathe, his eyes were watering to the point that he could not see. He immediately got out of the car to regain his sight and breathing then rolled down all of his windows and drove to the rear of the store where he spoke with [REDACTED]. When he informed [REDACTED] that the container had leaked, [REDACTED] proceeded to hand this caller paper towels to soak up the spillage but the leakage went through his seats. The caller drives a new [REDACTED] which has a backseat that this acid has eaten through as well as the metal to the seat belts. Muriatic Acid Hydrogen Chloride 31. 45% He is reporting this container leakage as a severe danger not only because of the way it affected him but he states that if his 7 year old son had been in the car with him it could have been so much worse because he would have also been affected by the environmental issues with being exposed to this chemical but it could have also spilled on him or could on another child and seeing how it ate not only his leather seat but also the metal for the seat belts he believes this issue to be potentially extremely dangerous to have a faulty container. He said that he as an adult has been having ongoing problems still of dryness of the eyes, breathing issues, dryness in his throat when he catches a breath. He has treated his own symptoms and some have lessened, however he stated that if they do not subside he will seek a doctors attention. He has not yet contacted the manufacturer but he does intend to do so.
(6/22/2018)The manufacter has stated changing their bottles and caps as of 6/14/18. They now have white lids. The bottle I received had no seal and red cap. They deny and issues with red cap bottles.
