The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Jul 1, 2026, sent to the company Jul 8, 2026, published by CPSC Jul 22, 2026

The product, in the report: Clear plastic 12 cup food storage container by Mainstay. With clear lid that has a grey rim.

Went to microwave food that was in a mainstay food storage container, which has a lable that says microwave safe on it. So I put it in the microwave for a planned 1.5 minutes but it caught fire around 15 seconds. No damage or injuries occurred but it scared the crap out of me. I went to inspect if I left a fork or a spoon in the microwave, nope. Then I noticed that the lable of the product has a metal strip in it which I assume is for loss prevention, but I didn’t notice it until after it caught fire. I looked on the lable and no where does it say to remove label before use. It just says to remove lid before use.
