The product, in the report: A can of Pedigree dog food

I took a can of Pedigree canned dog food from my pantry were I store food and proceeded to open it. It was a flip top can with a tab. When I pulled the tab the ca exploded sending the cap flying and dog food in my face, clothes, walls, floor and ceiling. The force of the explosion was so loud my ears were ringing and I stood for a few seconds trying to make sense of what happened. My two dogs immediately started licking what food they could find on the floor before I had a chance to remove them from the room. My hands were throbbing and I noticed that my middle finger on my right hand was bruise and swollen. My arm was bruised as well. After I cleaned up the mess I called Pedigree at the number in the can. I gave a report and was told I would get an email with the ability to upload pictures. I did so. About an hour later I noticed tiny cuts on my hands that did not bleed and my ring finger on my left hand that was holding the can was painful and I could not bend it. It had started to swell. I also called my vet because I was concerned my dogs had ingested something harmful, possibly botulism. I monitored them over the weekend and have seen no symptoms as yet. I would expect Pedigree to contact me with information as to whether they had issues with this lot of dog food, had other complaints or that they would recall the product. The only thing they offered was to replace the can and cans I still have in my shelf but I assured them my dogs would not be given their product again and I would not feel comfortable opening a can. In fact, I am still Leary of opening any cans right now.
