  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Mar 12, 2026, sent to the company Mar 16, 2026, published by CPSC Mar 30, 2026

The product, in the report: Powdered infant formula sold in a cylindrical metal container with a removable plastic lid and foil seal. The product is used to prepare infant formula bottles by opening the container, removing the foil seal, and scooping powder from inside the metal can during normal feeding preparation

While preparing a bottle of infant formula during normal use, my hand brushed the exposed inner metal rim of the formula container. The contact required no force and resulted in a cut to my hand from the sharp metal edge of the container rim.

The injury occurred while scooping formula during bottle preparation. After the bottle had been prepared and the baby had begun feeding, blood was discovered on the bottle and around the base of the nipple. The sharp metal edge was not visibly bent or damaged and appeared to be part of the normal container design.

This product is frequently used by caregivers preparing bottles quickly, including at night, and the exposed sharp rim presents a potential laceration hazard during normal handling of the container.
