The product, in the report: Snapware Glasslock oven safe containers with green lids purchased from Costco. OCRT-09020 Made in Korea. Comes in a set with multiple sizes.
Made a bowl of spaghetti and placed the leftovers in a Snapware Glasslock container that was purchased from Costco several years ago. The next day placed the food in a bowl and reheated it only to find a >1” glass shard in my mouth. Not knowing where it came from at that time I threw out the food. A week later I made egg fried rice and put the leftovers in a SnapwareGlasslock container again and again found a 1” glass shard and two smaller glass shards. Looking all around now noticed more glass shards in my other Snapeware containers. Looking at the under edges it was clear the glass was fracturing off where the container’s lids snap on. The small lip and force of snapping the lids on and off over time is fracturing the glass resulting in glass shards being found in my food. The is HIGHLY Dangerous!!!

The product, in the report: Snapware nesting glass bowls. Various sized glassware designed to rest within each other. The edge of the bowls break off as you snap the lids on and off. These shards then fall into the bowl below which can then contaminate anything placed into the larger bowl.
Snapware glass bowls purchased from Costco have glass shards that break off the rims and fall into the larger bowl nesting below.

The product, in the report: Glass containers with green plastic ‘Snap’ top (cover)
SnapWare Glasslock 20-piece set
I have found glass shards in my food several times using this product. I just recently cut my hand while washing the glass container. Underneath the lip of the container is a delicate glass indentation which chips when the plastic lid is snapped on.
Very dangerous product- it is possible to swallow glass shards without realizing it.

The product, in the report: a round clear glass bowl with snap on green lid, five inches in diameter
I had just warmed up a food item in the glass bowl, as i looked down in the bowl I noticed a shiny object and realized it was a piece of glass shard. I found a second one, but I was able to find them before I ingested my food and because of it it didn’t cause any injury. Upon inspection I can see where the two glass shards were originally located.

The product, in the report: Common sizes of Snapware/Glasslock containers, from a set of 20 or so total pieces (lids and containers).
I have several Snapware/Glasslock food storage products and have noticed that some of them chip or “sliver” without apparent impact or other obvious cause. Today I was looking on Amazon to see of there were alternative version of the same concept available and noted that MANY of the reviewers of the Snapware/Glasslock products, including the “tempered” versions, reported similar issues (including at least one that reported being in the emergency room as a result of ingesting a shard of glass) and perhaps even more reviewers reporting that these products had exploded after use, heating, cleaning or other activity, all seemingly within the bounds of the recommended use.

The product, in the report: Snapware glasslock. Green plastic lid. Comes in a set of 8 or 10 pieces. Rectangular, square, and round shapes.
I purchased the snapware glass lock containers about 6months ago. I noticed the lids were not closing properly and I noticed a glass shard in one of my bowls. I thought maybe I had caused the chip so didn’t think much of it. Today I was eating out of my snapware and another piece of glass was in my food. This time I didn’t notice it until it was too late. I bit into the glass and went to spit it out and noticed blood. The glass had cut across my tongue. It took 30minutes to stop the bleeding. I am very concerned that this product could harm someone worse that I was harmed.

The product, in the report: Snapware Glasslock food storage containers
RE: Snapware Glasslock food storage containers
I purchased this set of kitchen food storage containers typically used for leftover dinners, etc., from Costco approximately a year ago. The lids bend around and snap onto the outer edge lip of the glass container.
My 11 year old son was eating fruit and noticed something hard in his mouth and upon removal my wife identified it as a small glass shard, approximate 1 cm in length. He did not cut his mouth. We could not determine where the glass came from but found additional shards of glass in the fruit stored in the Glasslock round storage container. We noticed the outer rim was damaged and clearly had a rough edge where some glass had broken off in several locations. The broken areas were focal in nature and likely related where the lid snaps onto and locks onto the container. We inspected another clean round container and found similar glass defects. We inspected the square containers but did not find any defects.
I am reporting this as: 1) I believe it is a design defect related to the lid locking mechanism and the force it applies to a small portion of the thin rim of glass and, 2) my concern that another person may injure themselves by eating a piece of glass.
I have saved all the containers we own of this type and will ship them to you for inspection.
Please consider a recall of this product before someone sustains an injury.
Thank you.
Sincerely, [REDACTED]

No one hurt Made Jul 22, 2011, published by CPSC Aug 15, 2011
The product, in the report: Snapware - Glasslock food storage containers 18 piece set - 2 sm rectangular, 2 med rectangular, 2 large rectangular, 1 sm round, 1 med round, 1 lg round - each with a lid that has 4 “snap” closing mechanisms that snap down over the outside edge of the glass container. Set was purchased at Costco in Santa Rosa, CA
I received a Christmas present in 12/2010 of a Glasslock by Snapware, 18 piece set of food containers. There are 9 glass containers (rectangular and round) with plastic lids that have four “locks” that “snap” down on the outside edges of the containers.
In March 2011, we noticed glass shards in our food when opening one of them up!! We figured something had struck the edge by accident. We threw the container into recycling. However, the next container removed from the drawer (with each of the containers stored with wax paper between them to prevent this very thing) also had chipped edges.
I contacted the company by phone and spoke to a customer service rep who offered to send out four replacements. (Snapware Corporate DC, 2900 Hamner Avenue, Mira Loma, CA 91752 was on the packing slip with the replacements.) Unfortunately, these replacements also chipped almost immediately. I asked if they wanted the rest of the set back, and they said they really didn’t need any of the pieces back. I insisted that they take at least a couple and find out why their product is so dangerous.
I’ve been back and forth with the company reps for several weeks now and I’m giving up. Apparently, Glasslock/Snapware is now run by World Kitchen. World Kitchen has offered a gift card to allow me to purchase a replacement from any of their product lines. Very generous indeed. However, no one in either company seems too concerned about the glass ending up in people’s food! Hence, my contact to you. I am concerned that this product is defective. We have found glass in the food inside the container, found chipped edges, and found shards of glass in the empty containers. All in a very short space - the products are less than 6 months old.
We are two responsible and concerned adults with no children to abuse the items. I have other glass products that are 20+ years old with no damage to them whatsoever. I would like and hope that you see fit to investigate, recall, or whatever needs to be done to prevent someone from ingesting glass because the company does not seem to care about this issue.
Thanks so much. Feel free to contact me for any other information needed.
