No one hurt Made Dec 20, 2024, sent to the company Dec 27, 2024, published by CPSC Jan 16, 2025
The product, in the report: This was the 4-cup size glass bowl in a Anchor Hocking Glass SnugFit Food Storage Container set which claims to be “Oven-Safe, Freezer-Safe, Microwave-Safe Without Lid, Dishwasher-Safe”
After microwaving instant oatmeal in the microwave safe bowl (the lid not on) for 1.5 min, they placed the bowl on a napkin and took it to their desk. After two or three bites the bowl exploded and shattered into many small pieces. Luckily the main point where the explosion occurred was facing away from them, otherwise the small shards may have hit their body or face. They checked the identical second bowl of this set they have to ensure it is microwave safe and confirmed it does say microwave safe on the bottom. At this time there was no injury, but that easily could have not been the case with how small of shards were created from the glass breaking.
