Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Apr 29, 2026, sent to the company May 4, 2026, published by CPSC May 26, 2026

The product, in the report: I purchased a HydroJug Traveler 40oz Tumbler in Tulip that arrived with an older lid design that cannot be fully disassembled for cleaning. The product is a stainless steel, triple-wall insulated tumbler measuring 3.9” x 6” x 9.84” with a base diameter of 3.04”, a capacity of 40 ounces (approximately 1,183 mL), and a weight of 20oz. It is designed for cold beverage use and features a flip-straw lid, ergonomic handle, and cupholder-friendly tapered base. Due to the lid’s design flaw, mold developed inside the lid in areas that cannot be reached, washed, or inspected. This is a repeat occurrence as I previously experienced the same issue with the same product. HydroJug acknowledged the problem by releasing an updated removable lid design that fully disassembles for proper cleaning, yet continued shipping the 40oz tumbler with the defective lid and refuses to offer the 40oz with the newly designed lid. When I contacted support, I was told I needed to wait for visible mold to develop before receiving a replacement, meaning I was required to expose myself to a known health hazard before receiving corrective action. I have a chronic illness, and mold exposure presents a serious and elevated health risk for me. The tumbler was being used as intended as a daily hydration vessel, with no misuse or modification of any kind. I have attached photographic documentation of the mold growth to this report.

The tumbler was being used as intended as a daily hydration vessel, with no misuse or modification of any kind. Mold accumulated inside the non-removable lid in areas that cannot be reached, washed, or inspected, exposing me to mold through drinking. I have attached photographic documentation of the mold growth to this report.
