I bought this Contigo Fit water jug about a month ago off of Walmart, and at first, it seemed fine. But recently it started leaking when full, and then something truly alarming happened. I took a sip and felt a soft, solid object in my mouth. I spit it out and discovered it was a loose silicone piece from inside the lid something that should never have come loose. It looked like a vent plug or check valve, but it completely dislodged and couldve easily been swallowed or choked on.

This is a serious safety issue. I cant believe a product like this made it through quality control. Ive stopped using it and will be contacting the manufacturer. I expected better from Contigo.

The product, in the report: Contigo child water bottle. Green and blue with dinosaurs. Clear spout with black base and cover. Says contigo on the rim. Autospout cleanable 14oz.

My 20-month-old Toddler sucked the clear spout off a childs contigo water bottle. Its his older brothers cup. It does have a warning not to use in kids under 3, but as a mom and pediatric ER nurse.. I know this would kill a 4, 5, 6 year old! Even an adult! Im horrified to see the cup continue to be sold with a 2part spout.

The product, in the report: Contigo double-wall vacuum-insulated stainless-steel bottles. Thermal Mug.

The bottom fell off of my Contigo Travel Coffee Mug. After washing it in the dishwasher multiple times, I saw discoloration on the bottom of the bottle. I called Contigo who told me that it was safe to contnue to use as there isn’t harmful chemicals in there product. I used the prodcut for a couple months and contnued washing it in the dishwasher. The discoloration got worse. I ordered a LEAD TEST KIT. The product tested positive for the presence of lead.

While nothing inside the travel mug could come into contact with the lead, I washed it in the dishwasher and used scrub brushes to clean the travel mug. In short, everything I washed with the travel mug including dishes, silverware, cups and kitchen tools has been exposed to lead.

Contigo Thermal Insulated Travel Mug. There are no known injuries other than the exposure to lead. I estimate the bottom of the mug came off in mid March. I began to notice discoloration in April 2024. I couldn’t find a lead test kit at [REDACTED] so I ordered one from [REDACTED]. Received and tested on May 11, 2024

7:30 am Monday morning, making breakfast and getting my older daughter ready for school. 3 year old daughter was holding her Contigo Autoseal Runabout water bottle/travel cup. She twirled around in a circle, slipped and fell while holding the cup. The cup remained in her hands, landed on the kitchen floor upright, her jawline/chin hit the blunt edge of the cup and split it open through multiple layers of facial tissue, leaving a huge gaping hole in her skin. It resulted in an emergency room visit, and about 20 stitches, interior and anterior layers. There remains a big scar to this day. Contigo probably shouldn’t call the cup the “Runabout” since that doesn’t seem to be a good idea with this cup.
