A defective heating pad incident. This heating pad started smoking and burst into flames causing a burn to the palm of my left hand while trying to control it and turn it off finally pulling the plug from the wall outlet. This happened at the first initial normal use of the heating pad. I am writing to you today to report a defective product which I purchased from an online store the name of the store I will provide later as directed. The purchase was made 19 November 2025 . The incident happened on 12/06/25. I was using the product for the first time. I am a 75 year old male using the product for arthritis in back and shoulder areas for pain. As mentioned above there were burn injuries to the palm of my left hand which I received treatment for at my local walk in Family Emergency Center. Hand was treated and an ointment RX was prescribed. Redness, pain and blistering occurred. The store was notified by me to stop selling the item for my safety and the many other customers who may have purchased it. A police report was taken, an insurance claim for burn damages caused to my sofa and carpet. A fire Marshal recommended that I report the make and model # to your website and that is why I am here as this product MADE IN CHINA should be flagged and recalled ASAP. If not for my quick action in smothering the pad or had I not been sitting right next to it my house would have be destroyed but for the grace of god.
