Made Dec 1, 2025, sent to the company Dec 4, 2025, published by CPSC Dec 18, 2025

The product, in the report: Dryer lv

    Incident Description:

I am reporting a serious safety hazard involving an LG gas dryer purchased from Best Buy approximately four years ago. The dryer has now experienced two internal fires despite being serviced and covered under an extended protection plan. The unit is unsafe to operate and poses an immediate fire risk to my household.

On multiple occasions, we have experienced burning smells coming from the dryer. Most recently, I opened the dryer to inspect the interior and found significant burn damage, including: Burned and scorched metal inside the drum vent Melted internal components and wiring Heavy lint buildup inside the burner/heater area where lint should never accumulate Charring around the gas valve and ignition assembly Blackened interior metal panels behind the drum Evidence that high heat escaped into areas not intended to be exposed

These conditions clearly show the dryer is overheating internally and creating a fire hazard. I have photo documentation showing melted parts, scorched areas, and burn patterns.

I have contacted Best Buy (the retailer) multiple times and requested a replacement under my extended warranty, but they refuse, claiming the same issue must occur within three months, which is not appropriate for a fire risk.

I am requesting the Consumer Product Safety Commission to review this incident due to the repeated fire events and the clear evidence of internal overheating in this gas dryer.
