The product, in the report: Whirlpool Gas Dryer Duet Serial number M01205793 Model number WGD915OWWO

I purchased a whirlpool dryer on 3/3/2010. A gas dryer from Sears model number WGD915OWWO and serial number M01205793. In December of 2010 I called and was sent a replacement part for my dryer lint screen. There is a felt gasket on it that when you pull it out of the dryer, to wipe it off before use, it pulls up the lint with it. The gasket becomes detached and tears its way off the vent. I have just had my second (the replacement to the original) gasket fall off the vent. Now my dryer screen comes out of the dryer almost lint free because there is no gasket to gather it onto the screen and secure it when you pull it out of the dryer. And there is lots of lint in my dryer venting system that I can see with a flashlight. I contacted Whirlpool on 12/6/2011 and requested a second vent screen because the replacement part had also broken in the exact same way. I was told that I could purchase a replacement part. I asked if it broke again in the same way would it be covered and I was told only within 30 days of shipment. I was also told that the problem was identified in September of 2011and fixed but since so few people had the issue that a recall was not issued and replacements will not be sent out.

I can”t believe they know about a problem, have fixed it, and won’t issue the parts to everyone who has purchased it. The amount of lint that could build up is a fire hazard.
