Hurt, no treatment Made Feb 7, 2017, sent to the company Feb 21, 2017, published by CPSC Mar 7, 2017
The product, in the report: Husquarna Lawn Tractor
December 19, 2016 I was mulching leaves the wind had blown against my front fence. I had already mulched about 200 feet when I noticed a wisp of smoke come up from the leaves upon and under the front of the tractor. I got off the tractor to investigate. I found the leaves under the front of the tractor (within the area of the muffler and carburetor) beginning to burn. I reached under and tried to pull the burning leaves out. however, the more I tried to remove them, the more they burned. Plus now I had two burning piles of leaves on either side of the tractor beside the fire under it. Because the temperature was about 20 degrees, I did not have any any water hoses available. I tried to use 4 small dry fire extinguishes to no avail. Shortly the fuel in the carburetor was burning along with the plastic fuel line with the three gallons or so of gasoline feeding it. The plastic pieces of the hood, the plastic engine shrouds, the tires , even the steering wheel and seat shortly were involved.
Finally found a plastic bucket and a flowing faucet and carried water to throw on the remains of the tractor to cool it off and stop spread of the fire into the remaining leaves on the yard.
Please see the attached pictures to understand the total involvement and destruction.

No one hurt Made Oct 1, 2012, sent to the company Oct 10, 2012, published by CPSC Oct 24, 2012
The product, in the report: Husqvarna garden tractor (riding lawn mower)
Husqvarna model gth27v48ls lawn tractor. Main fuel line can contact drive belt for mower section resulting in damaged fuel line and severe fuel leak onto top of mower unit. Any spark and mower could catch fire and/or explode. I’m lucky to be alive right now. I have photos if you wish. It is likely that this problem exists with any Husqvarna riding mower that has the fuel tank under the driver’s seat.
This is similar to 10-748. It would appear that, two years later, Husqvarna is NOT repairing the defect and is continuing to sell product with this potentially deadly flaw. Perhaps it’s time for a mandatory recall?

No one hurt Made Sep 1, 2011, published by CPSC Sep 26, 2011
The product, in the report: Husqvarna Yard Tractor, Model 240440/YTH2348, Serial # 072711A006650
Husqvarna Tractor, Model 240440/YTH2348, Serial # 072711A006650 was recently purchased from Sears; it was delivered to me August 23, 2011. Mowed once with it and noticed that it used an unusually large amount of Gas. However, I did not smell gas so I chalked it up to a larger engine, etc.
Used it again to pull a small yard cart around the yard yesterday, August 31, 2011. Smelled gas and then when I engaged the blades, the tractor ran for about 50 yards and then stalled out. Looked down and saw gas on the mower deck. Looked underneath the tractor at the fuel line and saw it was cut, directly above one of the metal pulleys -- and it was also not secured to the frame in any way, leaving an extra length of line hanging. There is no doubt in my mind that this is the same scenario described in a previous recall -- from the Husqvarna web page located here: http://www.husqvarna.com/us/homeowner/news/husqvarna-professional-products-recalls-riding-lawn-tractors-due-to-fire-hazard/
It states:
“The fuel line on the rear-mounted fuel tank is too long and can come in contact with moving parts while the tractor is in use, posing a fire hazard.”
While my model is not named, what I see is exactly what is described here. It’s obvious to me that Husqvarna has NOT fixed the problem seen in other models in this line of models.
