The product, in the report: Sears Kenmore 800 white front load electric clothes dryer model 110.69822801 serial number MY3952140
9/1/2019, Kenmore 800 dryer model 110.69822801 operational panel caught fire while my wife was drying clothes. I unplugged the dryer. Removed the back and found burning paper and cardboard behind controls. I removed burning paper and placed into water. Appears to have been wiring diagrams and repair procedures. There is a burnt component on the operational panel which most likely started the paper to burn. Some wires burnt also. I have photographs of the paper and burnt components.

No one hurt Made Mar 7, 2015, sent to the company Mar 16, 2015, published by CPSC Mar 30, 2015
The product, in the report: Electric Clothes dryer
Kenmore HE2 Electric Dryer, model #110.87572601, n/n MT2105547
While dryer was in use on Sunday, March 1, 2015, it caught fire. Laundry room filled with smoke and soot, odor was very distinctive and it was immediately clear this was an electrical fire. Immediately shut off circuit breaker to dryer to cut power, hoping fire would extinguish. Top of dryer was extremely hot. Removed the top panel of the dryer and discovered the circuit board & wire harness had caught fire and melted.
Contacted Sears Customer Solutions to report incident, they immediately offered to send a service tech to investigate. Tech arrived as scheduled, suggested that this type of failure has happened before but that ours was particularly bad. Repair cost was higher than cost of new dryer, repair declined. Sears has not taken seriously this extremely unsafe failure, choosing instead to treat it as a common occurrence.

No one hurt Made May 14, 2012, sent to the company May 21, 2012, published by CPSC Jun 5, 2012
The product, in the report: Sears Kenmore Electric Dryer. Model 110-66722690
The first service call in 2010 was to replace the thermostat and a portion of attached red wire. 4 inches of red 12 gauge wire attached to the heating element has melted to the point of release from the clip allowing it to hang freely inside the unit. This has happened twice prior. Property damage was limited to a burnt odor permeating the clothing.

No one hurt Made Feb 23, 2012, sent to the company Mar 13, 2012, published by CPSC Mar 27, 2012
The product, in the report: electric clothes dryer
My wife and I bought a LG Electronics DLE2050W dryer in June 2010 from SEARS. We had SEARS deliver and set up the dryer for us. The dryer’s power cord was supplied by [REDACTED]. At that time, we also bought a new power outlet from the Home Depot just for the dryer.
On January 22, 2012, in the afternoon, I used the dryer to dry my clothes. About twenty to thirty minutes later, my wife smelled burning plastic. Both of us immediately went downstairs. The whole laundry room had an unbearable burning plastic smell. When we unplugged the power cord for the dryer, the power cord and the power outlet had already melted badly. On the power cord, one of the three prongs had burned to a black color. Part of the power cord plastic was melted. Luckily, my wife and I were at home and prevented a fire.

No one hurt Made Nov 8, 2011, sent to the company Nov 16, 2011, published by CPSC Dec 1, 2011
The product, in the report: Sears Kenmore Elite Electric Clothes Dryer model 110.66972500
On, October 19, 2011, Sears Electric Clothes Dryer Model 110.66972500 caught fire. Dryer was working and then we smelled an electrical fire. Determined after running around the house it was the dryer. Saw soot on top of the control panel. Fire started inside with the controls. Immediately unplugged dryer and fire smoldered out. Dryer is not even 6 yrs old - only 2 people in house. Dryer should not have caught fire. Called Sears on 10/20/11 at 1-800-469-4663 - then the fun began. The Sears representative was not sympathetic to hearing that the dryer caught fire, but was ready to sell me that Service Protection Agreement!! She never even noted anywhere on our information that the dryer caught fire per one of the “numerous” Sears Customer Solutions representatives I spoke with over the last 20 days. I specifically asked her if the parts would be new or refurbed. She said new. She told me that if the cost of the repairs would be over $500 they would provide to me a certificate for $500 for a new dryer. I was lied to - this was not a misunderstanding. I specifically asked if the parts would be refurbished and was told they would be new. After numerous calls and refurbed parts being order.....it is 11/8/11 and I am still waiting for the final repair - which now I am being told will be 11/11/11. We’ll see what happens. Sear’s is a very big disappointment. Sad. They were always a good company - very customer oriented. They are so big now - nobody cares.

The product, in the report: Kenmore Elite Quiet Pack Dryer He 5 110.97087601
Our Kenmore Elite HE5 Dryer is appx 3 years old and today it began smoking and making our clothes smell burnt. My husband took the whole dryer apart to look for burnt lint or wires and we could not find anything but something is definitely burning. Our whole house smells like a fire and I do not know if the smell will ever come out of the clothes. I am afraid to use the dryer until we can get someone out here to look at it.
