The product, in the report: Samsung electric DVE45T6000W/A3 Dryer, clothes
The Samsung dryer automatically started in the middle of the night and ran for over 8 hours without my input. When I woke up, I smelled smoke and quickly unplugged it. I plugged it back in, and it started spinning immediately. Even with the control panel off, the drum still spins. When you research this, this is a common issue. Samsung does not assist with this unsafe product, and the part needed to fix it is out of stock and no longer available. This should be against the law.

No incident, no one hurt Made Mar 3, 2026, sent to the company Mar 5, 2026, published by CPSC Mar 19, 2026
The product, in the report: Front-loading Samsung washer/dryer combo (all-in-one ventless unit), residential household appliance, electric powered, black finish
I am submitting this report regarding a Samsung washer/dryer combo that presents a potential fire hazard due to a serious internal lint accumulation issue.
I have been waiting nearly two months for a Samsung service technician to inspect or repair this unit for poor drying performance. While waiting for service, I conducted independent research and discovered that this model contains an internal lint chute area that is not accessible during routine maintenance.
After watching instructional content online, I accessed the internal compartment and found it completely compacted with lint. The lint had clogged the internal chute that is supposed to carry debris to the removable filter. This obstruction significantly restricted airflow and appears to be the primary reason the dryer was not functioning properly.
After clearing the obstruction, the dyer immediately began working significantly better and dried clothes properly again. However, within just a few weeks, the unit returned to the same poor drying performance, indicating that lint is continuing to accumulate in this inaccessible internal area during normal use.
The lint accumulation was located in an area that consumers cannot access without partially disassembling the machine. There are no warnings in the user manual advising consumers of this hidden lint buildup risk, nor are there instructions for safely cleaning this area. Based on my experience, Samsung technicians do not appear to routinely inspect or service this internal compartment unless the unit is dismantled.
Lint buildup inside a heat-generating appliance poses a significant fire risk, particularly since dryers are often operated for extended cycles and sometimes unattended. The only way to remove this compacted lint was to partially disassemble the machine, which is not safe or reasonable for the average consumer.
According to the U.S. Fire Administration, dryers are responsible for thousands of residential fires annually, many related to lint buildup. A design that allows lint to accumulate in an inaccessible internal location without warning or routine maintenance access increases the risk of overheating and fire.
I am attaching photographs of the lint removed from inside the unit. I urge the Consumer Product Safety Commission to investigate this potential design flaw to determine whether this product presents a broader safety hazard to consumers

The product, in the report: Samsung 7.4 cubic foot electric dryer.
Samsung Dryer started smoking and set off fire alarm. Dryer was about 9 months old. I contacted Samsung warrantee service and they sent a technician to look at the dryer. The technician found that dryer lint accumulated on top of the heat box. The tech stated that this was my fault that this happened and that the dryer was not covered by warrantee.

Hurt, no treatment Made Aug 15, 2024, sent to the company Aug 21, 2024, published by CPSC Sep 5, 2024
The product, in the report: Samsung 7.5 cu-ft Stackable Vented Smart Electric Dryer, Model #: DVE50R8500V/A3, Serial #: 0B1C5BBMB01054Z, brushed black
Samsung Dryer (Model #: DVE50R8500V/A3 & Serial #: 0B1C5BBMB01054Z) located in a residential home and used for its intended purpose while always referencing the manufacturer guidelines for operation and care. Constant excessive internal and external lint with no repair fix after Appliance Service Center (Lowes Warranty Assurant local servicing company) technicians came out five separate times. Routine maintenance and cleaning upheld every use and was noted by multiple technicians as in compliance. All technicians observed excessive lint on the exterior surface as well as on internal components. Some components were replaced after multiple troubleshooting attempts but the issue continues to be a constant hazard. Technician noted excessive lint on the internal copper coils and stated “it is not a fire hazard”. NPFA Code 69 (prevention and control of explosions in enclosures that contain flammable concentrations) states that this is most definitely a hazard and a solution must be rectified as quickly as possible to reduce risks. The warranty company will NOT replace the unit because they state that it is because of lack of routine maintenance which is far from the truth as the manufacturer’s guidelines for cleaning and maintenance are always followed. The unit is unserviceable and a safety hazard. It requires immediate recall and replacement.

No one hurt Made May 2, 2024, sent to the company May 22, 2024, published by CPSC Jun 6, 2024
The product, in the report: Samsung electric dryer for clothes
Reporting a Household Appliance Hazard to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) To: U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission From: [REDACTED] Address: [REDACTED] Mobile: [REDACTED] Email: [REDACTED] Date: October 26, 2023 Subject: Potential Fire and Explosion Hazard - Samsung Electric Dryer (Model # DV45H6300EW/A3, Serial # [REDACTED]) Description of Incident: On April 8, 2024, my Samsung electric dryer (Model # DV45H6300EW/A3, Serial # [REDACTED]), purchased and installed in 2016, malfunctioned during a normal drying cycle. The machine suddenly accelerated to a dangerously high speed, emitting a loud siren-like noise. There were no warning alarms or error codes displayed. I immediately stopped the machine, and upon opening the door, detected a strong burning smell. Actions Taken: I contacted Samsung service and received multiple service tickets ([REDACTED]) over several weeks. A technician finally visited on April 22nd, confirmed the abnormal speed and overheating issue, but offered no resolution. Despite further communication, Samsung ultimately denied responsibility for the malfunctioning appliance, claiming the technician found no problem with the product. Safety Concerns: As an experienced engineer, I believe the dryer lacks crucial safety features to prevent overspeed and overheating, posing a significant risk of fire and explosion. The absence of automatic shut-off mechanisms in such critical situations is a serious design flaw that could endanger consumers. This product potentially represents a significant hazard to U.S. families. Request: I urge the CPSC to investigate this incident and the potential safety hazards associated with the Samsung dryer model DV45H6300EW/A3. My concern is that this product may pose a widespread risk to consumers and requires immediate attention to prevent potential injuries or property damage. Additional Information: I have documented all communication with Samsung, including service ticket numbers and dates. I am willing to provide any additional information or assistance required for the investigation. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Samsung 7.5CuFt electric dryer with multi-team technology, black stainless steel. Model: DV45K6500EV/A3 ; Serial No: 0AMH5BCR400273J
Upon drying clothes in my 2021 Samsung dryer (Model: DV45K6500EV/A3), the inner glass on the door completely shattered, resulting in several hundred pieces of glass being spun in the dryer along with my clothes. When I stopped the cycle to open the door, I cut my hand on some glass that had embedded in my clothing. Even after door replacement, I am still cleaning up glass shards that remain in my dryer and lint trap. There was nothing out of the ordinary for the dryer cycle and this should never happen. This is a huge safety and quality issue and clearly reflects a defect in the product.

The product, in the report: Samsung 7.4-cu Electrical Dryer (Moisture Sensor) Model: DVE50R5200W/A3, Serial Number: 0AYG5BCNA02818H
Model: DVE50R5200W/A3, Serial Number: 0AYG5BCNA02818H I purchased this product on 17 January 2021. last week, (01 June 2022) when I turned on my dryer to dry my washed cloths, I noticed an electrical burn smell, and then I saw white smoke coming out of the back top control portion of the dryer. I turned the dryer off and turned it back on again, and the electrical burn smell and smoke started back again, but much stronger. Then I unplugged the main power cable from the wall quickly and moved the dryer outside the house and smoke still was coming out of the top control section of the dryer. I moved it back to garage after smoke finally stopped, but I still smell the electrical burn. We are lucky that I was there and noticed the white smoke and electrical burn since this could have burned our house down if I was not in our laundry room. I wanted to post this since I didn’t see any recall for this dryer from Samsung, and I want to warn other users of this problem to present house burning or, worst, loss of life.

The product, in the report: White Samsung clothes dryer model DV40J3000EW/A2
Samsung clothes dryer heating element is constantly powered with 220V. The machine switches the neutral side of the element instead of the hot side. With that said, when/if the element fails and contacts the meta element housing the element will continuously heat any time the machine is running. This causes overheating of the machine, and with a failure to ground causes the entire machine housing to be electrically charged. No injuries occurred due to this as the chassis ground performed its safety function; however, this did cause overheating of the machine and ultimately the over temp safety switch did open causing the element to shut down.
This machine continuously burns out elements ever 3-6 months, I have always replaced them with ORM parts purchased locally.

The product, in the report: Samsung Electric dryer Model DV45K6200EZ/A3
Samsung dryer drum cracked. This defect occurs because Samsung allegedly uses thin gauge steel in the drums and defective fly wheels. Contacted Samsung and although there are numerous reports and class action lawsuits regarding this all over the internet (including complaints right here on cpsc.gov site), they claim they have no reports of this. It is a dangerous fire hazard and there should be recall! Please help me and others receive compensation or replacement.

The product, in the report: Samsung Dryer Model: DV42H5200EW/A3 Electric dryer
I have a Samsung home electric dryer (220V) in which the heating element failed in such a way that it shorted to the chassis of the dryer. This is a fail “unsafe” instead of a fail safe. It essentially allowed the unit to continue operating in spite of the control system or selected cycle because the element had power as long as the power was on and a cycle was initiated. Under the right (unfortunate) circumstances, the unit WILL cause a fire in someone’s home. The casing surrounding the heating element and chamber should be non-conductive, such as ceramic blanket to ensure the element cannot continue to make electrical contact in the event one end fails and drops to the bottom of the chamber...which is what happened in my case.

The product, in the report: Samsung electric clothes dryer, front load, stackable, model DV350-AEW-XAA purchased May 2013 from Lowe’s
My Samsung model DV350-AEW/XAA electric clothes dryer was making a thumping noise and when I removed the clothes, one item was stuck. When I tried to remove it, it ripped. I looked inside the dryer to find a jagged crack in the stainless steel drum which could easily slice my finger or hand as easily as it ripped my clothing. The dryer is not under warranty anymore but I have seen dozens of reports of the same problem online. This dryer has been used in a residence for typical household laundry; it has not been misused and only two people live here who use it.

The product, in the report: Samsung electric clothes dryer. Model# DV50F9A7EVP/AZ, serial # Y7EE5AUD800860V.
We had a Samsung Electric Clothes Dryer that had an electrical fire burning out the COntrol Panel wiring and the wiring harness. We purchased this product through Lowe’s in Greenwood, SC. We noticed a strong burning smell similar to an electrical motor burning out. Our appliance repairman indicated that it was the control panel that burned, hot enough to warp the metal cover and he indicated we were fortunate that it did not result in a full fledged fire. The clothes dryer was only 42 months old. Model #DV50F9A7EVP/AZ, serial # Y7EE5AUD800860V, delivered 12/01/2014.

The explosion was loud enough to be heard at the Master Bedroom. When we approached the Laundry room it was full of black smoke. As a side note, ever since we had a recall from Samsung we decide that when we used the dryer not to have a big load, to have the fewer items in the it as possible and to always use the lowest setting and time possible in retrospect to the clothes being dried at the time.

The product, in the report: Samsung front-loading electric dryer
Our Samsung electric clothes dryer is less than three and a half years old. A high-end front load dryer which we have maintained and constantly ensured that the vent lines are free of lint clogs, as was the case on Sunday, March 5, 2017. My wife started the dryer and I re-entered the laundry room only a couple of minutes later, greeted by white acrid smoke with the distinctive smell of electrical fire although at this time it was contained as smoldering within the control panel. I immediately unplugged the dryer, opened the windows, and also checked for any blockage in the vent line - there was none. I have a picture of the dark smoke/ash at the edge of where the control panel meets the body of the dryer. No damage or issue at the 220V plug or wiring or interior of the dryer. This would have led to breathing hazards as well as potentially a full-blown fire had we not been there. This is incredibly dangerous. On December 12, 2016 we had a notice on the panel which indicated in our owners manual to call Samsung which we did. The Samsung person said that a service person needed to come check the circuit boards - a service rep came and deemed the dryer to be operating fine. Samsung’ negligence in their product safety is unacceptable - we also had to have the washer modified, thankfully due to a recall.

After less than 13 months of use our Samsung dryer drum has a hole and crack in it. We have stopped using since we are afraid of a fire or electrical issues that come with mixing water and electric components. Upon researching the issue online, it seems to be a common safety issue with samsung dryer drums that even tends to reoccur after repair. There are thousands of complaints on the Samsung product forums but samsung still has not recalled the dryers. They also will not repair if the product is out of warranty despite it being a safety product defect. Model# DV48H7400EW/A2 Serial# 0BH75AUG700453D

The electric dryer heating coil was not protected from unfiltered air, and dust was able to build up near the coil. There is no easy access for consumers to clean around the heating coil.

The product, in the report: Samsung Electric Dryer/White. Model# DV45K6200EW/A3. Serial# 0AMD5BBH401450F Purchased from Home Depot, delivered to home on 09/09/16
My family and I purchased appliances for our new home. Home Depot delivered them on 09/09/16. We only moved into the house the following weekend and started using the washer and dryer. Upon completing the first dryer cycle we proceeded to clean the lint filter and noticed that the screen was burnt in 2 place in on the corners. I immediately contacted Samsung 3 times who gave the run around from the beginning, first saying that the serial number (listed on the product and invoice) were not valid. After several attempts I managed to speak to a representative who told me that I can buy a replacement filter and there’s nothing that they will do about this. I managed to speak to a supervisor (on their online chat) who told me that it’s normal for the filter to get burnt during normal operation which is mind boggling to me. I threaten to filed a CPSC report and only then they became somewhat more responsive. Coincidentally, I had to go on an extended trip and received a few calls which I was unable to answer. It’s worth mentioning that Samsung requests a back-up number in case the main number is not available but nobody called my wife’s number. When I returned and listed to the voicemail; they were all scripted, saying precisely the same thing, that a replacement filter is mailed and assuring me that the drier is fine to use. I am reluctant about using the dryer and we only use it when the children are away so we prevent any incident. I had called Samsung again last week and was put on hold for 45 minutes then hang up. I called again and managed to request a technician to inspect the dryer. Finally I got a call this morning advising me that in spite of the time sensitive and safety concerns which are evident, a technician might or might not be available next Monday or Wednesday. I am concerned about this dryer safety and if the filter is burnt, whether delivered burnt or burnt during “normal” operation. This is not normal.

The product, in the report: Samsung Electric Clothes Dryer Model #: DV350AEW/XAA Serial #: JK685WBBCO2709H
We have owned our Samsang Electric dryer for 3 years (Model #DV350AEW/XAA). It smelled like something was burning from while we were drying a load (April 8th, 2016 @ 6:00 pm) so we stopped the dryer to investigate the issue. We pulled out a toddler sock that was stuck in the drum. Upon further investigating the drum it appeared the drum was cracked along the manufacturer seam in the drum (see pictures). We believe had we not been close to smell the burning it would have caused a fire. The sock pulled from the dryer crack was black and smelled as if it were burning. We called Samsung immediately (April 8th, 2016 @ 7:00pm) in an effort to get assistance to remedy the problem (we are in no position to buy a new dryer since this one is practically new to us) and they offered absolutely no assistance or help. We were continually told we would receive calls back so we could file a “Liability Claim” only to never hear from them (even though we were told we would hear from someone within 24-48 hours). Upon calling back to check on the status of the liability claims after never hearing from anyone, we were told over and over it was never filed but this time someone would call us. This cycle has continued. Just filed again today and we will wait another 24-48 hours. We have researched this issue online and have found a huge amount of people complaining of the same issue. Clearly a manufacturer defect.

I Purchased a new Samsung dryer in December 2013. Upon using the “bedding” cycle I discovered that it dried down to twelve minutes and then added another two hours to the drying time. I checked the sheets at this point and they were already”bone”dry! I reported this problem to Samsung and they sent several different servicemen, over the course of two weeks, and it was not able to be repaired. They replaced that dryer with another of the same model. Upon using that dryer in the “bedding” cycle, I discovered it did the exact same thing as the previous one. I notified Samsung and they didn’t seem to concerned and did nothing about the problem! My concern is I believe it could potentially be a fire hazard, especially to a consumer that is unaware the problem exists and starts the dryer before leaving thinking it will automatically shut off when the bedding is dry.

Samsung Dryer Model DV448AEP / XAA
Our dryer had been making some thumping sounds, wasn’t sure what was wrong until some clothes got “stuck” in the dryer and wouldn’t come out. The piece of clothing had become wedged in a crack in the drum. The crack appears to have propogated along a weld seam line inward from the front of the drum, then at a curve in the drum surface it turned almost 90 degrees for a bit and then continued in a very jagged fashion with a very sharp edge. I almost cut myself trying to free the clothing but was finally able to find a way to make the crack open a little to enable pulling it free. I checked online and found several comments regarding the exact same problem in this and other Samsung dryer models, apparently both the stainless steel drums and other material drums, all having the same seam design and the pictures I saw showed almost identical fracturing of the seam, along the seam line from the outer edge then shifting at the curvature of the drum and continuing inward. This appears to be a fairly common problem, whether it appears quickly, after about 18 months, or later as in our case (about 4 years old). Clearly a design defect.

My Samsung Dryer (Model#DV350AEW/XAA) had begun to make a loud “banging/thumping” sound as if there were shoes in the dryer. Upon further examination, I was able to see that the seem that the stainless steel drum was separating at the seem located at the rear of the drum. With the seem separating, the stainless steel edge was exposed on both sides of the seem, exposing them the razor sharp edges.
In the event that an unknowing person would reach to the rear of the dryer to retrieve clothing, the edge could easily cut the person if caught on the exposed edge.

Samsung Dryer Model DV488AEP/XAA was purchased September 2009. In September 2011 the heating element burned out and replaced. The repair technician noted the inside of the dryer was coated in lint, despite the lint trap being cleaned out after every dry cycle, due to a design flaw of the exhaust. On August 29, 2013 smoke started billowing out of the dryer while it was in use. The dryer was then unplugged and has not been in use while we are awaiting repair. I removed the the exhaust vent to check the interior of the dryer and it was covered in black charred lint. The exterior of exhaust vent is encased with black charred lint. All electrical elements and wiring are covered in black charred lint. The interior floor in covered in a blanket of black charred lint. Had I not gone into the laundry room to add additional items to the washer, I would probably not have a laundry (or house) today. After looking online for more information about this model I found several reports have also been made on various consumer and review sites. Samsung has discontinued this model but as failed to offer a repair solution for those of us that currently have this model in our homes.

The product, in the report: Samsung Electric Dryers Model Numbers DV476ETHAWR/A1 and DV50F9A7EVW/A2
Both Samsung model numbers DV50F9A7EVW/A2 and DV476ETHAWR/A1have a flaw in the “bedding” cycle, an auto moisture sensing cycle that is supposed to shut off after bed sheets are dry. The count down timer gets down to about 15 minutes, then jumps up to over 1 hour of time remaining. This cycle continuously repeats itself and never shuts the dryer off. First learned of issue on the DV476ETHAWR/A1when we placed our bed sheets in the dryer on bedding cycle. Left to run some errands and returned 3 hours later. Dryer was still running. Opened door and sheets were so hot, that I could not touch them.
Samsung replaced almost every part in the DV476ETHAWR/A1dryer. Repairman asked Samsung to replace the dryer. Since the DV476ETHAWR/A1 was no longer available, I received the newest model, the DV50F9A7EVW/A2. Checked operation upon installation and the dryer does THE SAME EXACT THING. Bedding cycle will not shut off, and overheats the sheets.
This is potentially a fire hazard and I ask that this issue be investigated. Clearly, there is some sort of logic issue with the dryer detecting moisture and not shutting off at the appropriate time.

The product, in the report: Samsung Model DV2C6BEW electic clothes dryer.
I purchased a Samsung Model DV2C6BEW electric clothes dryer in August 2007. Every 3-4 months, I have disassembled the vent tubing from the dryer - through the basement ceiling - to the outside house rimboard and vacuumed the lint out of it. On the evening of 11/18/2011, the unit started to give off a lot of smoke as if it was on fire. I turned it off (it was drying clothes at the time), and dragged out of the house to my driveway outside. I did not see any open flames at that time. A few minutes later, I took the screws off the backpanel, and noted that there was indeed an open flame inside the unit, along with a thick coating of charred/burnt lint covering the inside components.
I intend to report this to Lowes (place I purchased it), showing them my sales receipt and 4 year extended warranty - which should initiate after the 1-year manufacturers warranty expires: making it good until August 2012.
This Samsung electric clothes dryer should NOT have lint accumulating inside of the unit, and covering everything. I believe there to be some kind of design defect(s) allowing lint to accumulate inside of the unit, instead of being properly expelled out of the exhaust.
I am NOT interested in joining some class-action lawsuit to enrich a group of lawyers, but rather some kind action from the Manufacturer (Samsung) to remedy this situation for consumers.

The product, in the report: Samsung electric clothes dryer.
I purchased this dryer in 08/2008. This dryer has never worked properly with regard to drying clothes. We have had it serviced as it was covered under an extended protection plan. It still did not work after the service. I asked the technician why the lint screen does not capture lint in the screen and he did not have an answer. The lint obviously had been accumulating inside of the dryer posing a serious fire hazard. This is referring to May 2011: The dryer started to smoke a few days ago and the fire department was called to my home. There was the possibility that the dryer vent in the wall was on fire. Upon further investigation, the dryer vent duct work had no lint accumulated in it. I did find a substantial amount of lint in the well which holds the lint screen. There was also a substantial amount of lint in the back of the dryer that did not reach the dryer vent hose. As I mentioned, the lint screen has never captured the lint and this excess lint accumulates in the well of the lint screen. The lint then accumulates inside the dryer around the heating element box, etc. This is a poorly designed lint screen. It requires a special kind of duct cleaning brush to dig out the lint from the well, as well as using a powerful vacuum. It is not convenient and it is a very time consuming chore. The lint screen collects a very minimal amount of lint with the majority of the lint getting trapped in the back of the dryer around the heating element box. I called a technician to service this dryer after it nearly caught on fire. He opened the back of the dryer and removed the burned, black lint that was in the dryer. The smell is horrible and I doubt if it will ever go away. I was required to pay for this service even though it is covered by an extended protection plan. I will likely purchase a new dryer because of the smoky smell. More importantly, I will likely purchase a new dryer because this dryer is a serious fire hazard. The technician suggested that I remove the back panel of the dryer and do this service routinely. I have never owned a dryer that required this kind of maintenance to be performed by the consumer. It is unfortunate that the consumer of this dryer is required to open the back of the dryer and remove the excessive amount of lint that has accumulated to prevent a fire in the dryer. The lint screen should not allow this amount of lint to back up into the dryer and cause this fire hazard.

The product, in the report: Electric dryer
The Samsung Dryer DV448AEP is a fire hazard waiting to happen and considering they have sold thousands of these there are thousands of fire hazards waiting to happen across the US. This is becoming a well documented problem online and there is obviously a major design flaw with this dryer. The symtoms are loss of heat and an excessive amount of lint that most people only notice in there duct vent on the exterior of their home. However, what most people do not realize is that the majority of the lint that is not being captured by the lint filter is actually ending up on the inside of the dryer itself literally covering the electrical components, motors, and heating element!!! that’s right take any one of these dryers apart after 100 hours of use and you will find thick layers of charred lint resting on the heating element. I know because I have to do this every 3 to 4 months so we can dry our clothes properly. Upon inspecting the drum of the dryer I have found that the drum itself is supported by rubber wheels. The design of these wheels allows the drum to sag along the bottom of the felt liner creating a gap of about 1/2 inch. This gap allows lint to penetrate into the dryer box frame where it is blown around until it finds something warm and electrical to cling to. Mark my words, if this one goes ignored someone is going to lose their life taking a nap waiting for the dryer to finish.
