The product, in the report: Lq Dryer Thinq , Dark gray color
I am writing to formally submit a serious quality and safety complaint regarding my LG ThinQ dryer.
While recently moving the dryer to clean the outside vent, I discovered that an internal pipe connected to the exterior vent had detached due to poor manufacturing. Specifically, the pipe was secured by only two small spot welds, which had failed and broken loose.
Because this internal connection came apart, the exhaust vent had completely disconnected from the internal assembly. As a result, lint had been venting directly into the cabinet rather than outside, filling the interior of the dryer with heavy lint accumulations across the engine, drum, heating element, and electronic components.
Additionally, I noticed burn marks on the interior metal drum panel with holes. Fortunately, I caught this issue in time and thoroughly cleaned the interior components, but this structural failure represents an extreme fire hazard.

The product, in the report: LG Dryer. Appliance: LG Electric Dryer Model DLE0332W Serial Number 402KW01048 LG Case Number: [REDACTED]
During normal operation an electric dryer began emitting smoke from the rear of the unit. Smoke increased rapidly with no prior warning signs. The unit was unplugged and pulled away from the wall to prevent ignition. After the incident an internal inspection showed multiple burn marks heat damaged wiring and signs of internal overheating consistent with a near fire event. A firefighter engineer advised that ignition was likely if the unit had not been unplugged immediately. An authorized technician later inspected the unit and stated it was not repairable due to the extent of internal burn damage.

The product, in the report: LG Dryer DLEX4000W. Previous versions of the product had a felt seal to prevent lint which was removed with this version.
LG Dryer DLEX4000W Lint Trap is ineffective at capturing lint as a result of a design flaw. It never has lint on it and my dryer duct is full of lint with normal usage and less than 1 year old dryer. This is a fire hazard. No injuries or fire occurred. Previous versions of the dryer had a felt seal to prevent lint filled air from bypassing the trap. This version removed that felt seal, likely for cost savings.

Seen by a doctor or nurse Made Dec 24, 2025, sent to the company Dec 31, 2025, published by CPSC Jan 15, 2026
The product, in the report: LG 7.3 cu ft. Rear Control ELECTRIC Dryer with Built-In Intelligence, in White (Serial Number 510TNVS4C023). Wi-Fi Enabled, Costco Direct. Model DLE8400WE. US Energy Verified. Contains [REDACTED]. Contains IC (Contient IC) :2703N-LCW8001
I purchased a brand-new LG 7.3 cu ft. Rear Control ELECTRIC Dryer with Built-In Intelligence, in White (Serial Number 510TNVS4C023) on 12/10/2025 from Costco.com. This was installed by [REDACTED] (Costco installation company) on 12/16/2025 in our home on the first floor in the laundry room without the installers testing the unit before leaving. The next day on 12/17/2025 around 8am I loaded the dryer with 1 fitted King cotton sheet and 2 King sized cotton pillowcases, placed the cycle on bedding mode and turned the dryer on for the first time since being installed. Almost immediately the dryer began producing white billows of smoke coming from inside the unit itself- filling my home and my families’ lungs with toxic smoke-setting off various smoke alarms throughout the house. As quickly as I could I shut the power button to the machine off and ventilated the laundry room to try to air out the smoke. My family and I inhaled the smoke- it burned our eyes, lungs, and throats. Our linen, brand-new washer, air purifiers and entire house and HVAC system were introduced to toxic smoke. Costco sent out their [REDACTED] installation logistics team the following day on 12/18/2025 around 8am to determine whether the smoke was related to the installation or the product itself. The team confirmed that the installation was completed correctly; however, a “burning odor was still detected coming from the back panel of the unit” (this was given via email receipt by one of the [REDACTED] team members to me). It has been an entire week later and we still smell the smoke smell throughout our home. What made me want to report this is that this happened after turning it on for the first time and it put my family’s health and safety at risk. This could have burned our house down and killed us. Costco claims department and [REDACTED] Costco Wholesale Corporation has promised us resolution of our claim and that there will be an LG inspection of the dryer at a Costco warehouse after their [REDACTED] agent picked up the defective device on 12/22/25 around 4:45pm. We requested that we be notified when the inspection would be done and details regarding the inspection for our records and the [REDACTED] adjuster that we are in contact with regarding our claim gave us no insight and instead stated “I don’t know if I can make all of these request’s work when this is a claim with another party and not Costco” and “If this is filed with your homeowners insurance they may be able to complete these requests”. We fear they are failing to report a clearly defective device that they sold us, and the public needs to be aware to protect the health and well-being of others.

The drum of electric dryer does not stop when the door is opened.
UPDATED ON 7/25/2023: [Here is your description of risk of harm, “the operator of the dryer can open the door and stick a body appendage (e.g., arm, head etc..) into the rotating drum and the appendage can be twisted, pulled or otherwise relocated on their body which could cause body injury or death”. Here is an edition of the [REDACTED] which further describes the risk: [REDACTED]
UPDATED ON 7/27/2023: [This issue might be an intermittent issue. I recently ran the dryer and the drum stopped turning when the door was open. I reported this verbally to LG, the manufacturer, during a recent phone call. We’ll let you know if this issue reoccurs.]

The product, in the report: LG Ecohybrid dryer Model DLHX4072V
I purchased an LG Ecohybrid dryer (heat pump dryer). LG advertised it as having a self cleaning condenser but it doesn’t work and the condenser becomes clogged with lint. This then trips an overheat sensor and the unit tries to shut down. The only way to fix it is to disassemble the entire dryer. and clean it by hand. Per LG documentation, the error code given represents a fire hazard. LG was fined in South Korea for the exact same issue and false advertising. I have pictures and other information to support this. (This has occurred on multiple dates.)

LG Heat Pump Dryer DLHC1455W
While drying my second load in this brand new dryer it stopped with error code F1. According to the manual this means that the temperature inside the drum has risen suddenly and to call for service. Since I was past the two days from date of purchase to be able to return I contacted LG through their chat to obtain warranty service. The company they contract with and wrote my service order with failed to show on the day scheduled and sent me a message at 7pm that my service had been rescheduled for the next day.
The technician who showed up examined and tested the machine and informed me that they could not service this model as they had no information or service manuals for it and the only a LG technician could work on this machine. It is important to note that while the technician was running the machine through various cycles it set off all the smoke alarms in my house.
Back to chatting with LG they informed me that they were going to open a new case and send it to special service to do their best to find a technician who could work on this machine and they would contact me in three to five business days to schedule a service confirming I would continue to be without a dryer for another few weeks.
This unit can’t be serviced currently by their warranty contractor but more importantly potentially poses a significant risk of a house fire.

We receive delivery of an LG dryer on 3/20/21. After two weeks of use the bottom screw came out of door handle we contacted LG via email and phone multiple times and their response was that there is only one service in St. Louis to repair appliances under warranty and they cannot come out until late May. I am not comfortable using this product as I am concerned the door will fall off it already has once onto my foot. Waiting over a month for service is unacceptable

I’ve already reported this to you I reported this to LG themselves they first replace the filter and the housing with an identical filter and housing or year later which was three months ago they came and read took apart my entire dryer that I can do it out and put it back together. It is so bad that I am screwed the housing and what came out made me login and record this once again because somebody’s house is going to Burn down and hopefully that will be the worst of it nobody dies.

No one hurt Made Oct 27, 2017, sent to the company Nov 14, 2017, published by CPSC Nov 29, 2017
The product, in the report: LG Electric Dryer
I have an LG electric dryer, Model #DLEX5101V. Serial number is 102KWFN00107. On the evening of 10/26/2017, I was drying my clothes, and all of a sudden, I heard this loud sound in the laundry room. I opened the laundry room door to find the dryer ‘dancing’ across the floor. It had a horrible burning smell. I immediately stopped it. I looked up recalls, and there were none for my dryer. I contacted LG immediately and told them what happened. I informed them I believe the dryer was likely to catch fire or explode. They told me there were no recalls, so they could only come fix it if I paid $272. I have not agreed to that at this time, and the dryer has not been repaired. I turned it on again, and I noticed there was no clunking sound, so I started to dry my clothes again. After about 20 minutes, it happened again. I have started noticing that it happens when the dryer has been running (maybe the heat?) for a period of time, but lengths of time vary. I am sure if I continued drying when the clunking and dancing started, the dryer would eventually catch fire (because the burning smell), or possible even explode.

The product, in the report: Electric clothes dryer
I attempted to open the dryer door for my LG DLEX3570W electric dryer after the drum had stopped rotating. I received a shock from the dryer door. It was not static electricity, it’s a constant 120VAC
There is a short circuit in the dryer door locking mechanism. With the dryer plugged in and the door closed 120VAC is circulating through the door. With the door open the voltage is found in the locking mechanism and mounting screws only. This is true regardless of whether or not the power button on the front of the dryer has been depressed.

High Price. CHEAP parts. I paid $850 for this premium dryer (or so I thought) model DLEX5101V. This was definitely a stretch for my budget, but my wife convinced me to make the investment. After only 18 months, we started hearing this clicking noise. A couple days later the click turned into a heavy “thump” sound, like there’s 2 pairs of shoes inside. Obviously, I freaked out and call customer service. The operator tries to sound technical and says, “Can you put the phone next to the dryer so I can try and diagnose”. He goes on to tell me that there’s nothing he can do b/c the dryer is out of the 12 mo warranty. A few days later, while removing clothes from the dryer, I got cut on a sharp piece of metal. After doctoring myself, I removed the other clothes carefully and noticed a big gaping hole in the bottom of the drum with a sharp edge. This is completely unacceptable. I work in consumer products, and this has to be a known issue that has gone unaddressed. All I had to do was type “LG dryer thump...” and it auto-fills in google search with plenty of incidents popping up. This product needs to be recalled. I need this dryer replaced or repaired by a certified technician WITH A WARRANTY at LG’s expense. As if that’s not enough, my wife told me that 2 of her bras got ruined but didn’t realize there was a sharp piece of medal protruding from the dryer drum.
