The product, in the report: Frigidaire washer dryer stack unit.

Had a one unit washer dryer delivered this past May. Installed by delivery pros Home Depot. & $1624. At end of Sept dryer started making a loud clanging noise. Next I changed load clothes and started dryer. After few minutes I heard a very loud noise went to look and dryer was off. Blanket inside wet. Breaker flipped. Inside dryer was a screw that had fallen out of vent on back inside dryer covering heating element. Looked closer and two of the screws were missing.not sure where other screw was. Dryer smelled like something burning. Called Frigidaire over next few weeks and they made 3 appointments for repair but all three appointments with two different companies were a no call no show. Assume appliance Repairmen don’t want to work on their products. My condo unit is a beach rental. So far since this started I’ve had one cancellation costing me $850 and two negative reviews about dryer being broke. All Frigidaire offered to do at this point was make another repairman appointment. My son wrote a formal letter to Home Depot requesting to get a refund because the dryer is shorting out and is a fire hazard. The screws should not just fall out. We don’t have an official response yet from Home Depot.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Clothes Dryer (Frigidaire is owned by Electrolux)

This dryer repeatedly burns items of clothing, and I am concerned that there is a risk of fire.

The corner of an item gets caught at the top front of the dryer. I contacted Frigidaire about the problem, and they responded that that they have no data showing this is an issue with this model. But I have data, in the form of burned items.

In October, I mailed 2 burned items to Frigidaire. The problem continues. Today I sent Frigidaire a photo of another burned item.

The person who has responded to me is:

I have tried to upload the correspondence and photos of the burned items, but the upload feature is not working. Please e-mail me and I can send them along. Thank you!

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Affinity Clothes Dryer Model AE08700FS0 (Electric)

Our Frigidaire Electric Dryer (Model AE08700FS0) was purchased January 2009. It is out of warranty and 7 years old. On 4/16/2016, the circuit board and electronic controls spontaneously caught fire in the middle of a drying cycle. Luckily the fire extinguished on its own and didn’t proliferate and cause additional ignition. Thankfully, no injuries or damage to the home occurred, but a catastrophic failure of the controls is dangerous.

The product, in the report: Electric clothes dryer.

Called to the scene on the general alarm for the structure fire. On arrival, E52 reported a woodframe single family ranch, approximately 75’x50’. with light smoke from division A. Smoke was gray in color with a light push from the open front door and several people were present in the front yard with Woodridge PD. E52 took position just past the structure on a hydrant and deployed the leaderline (using the 1 3/4”) to the front door. On E52-A’s walk up to the house, Woodridge PD reported all occupants out of the home were outside and accounted for. LWFD Vehicle Maintenance was first to arrive and interview the homeowner who stated the house was on a slab, fire was in the laundry room located just inside the front door and believed to be from the clothes dryer. Members of E52 donned SCBA facemasks and entered the structure with a charged hose line. The laundry room was found approximately 2 ft inside the front door and to the right. Visible flame and sparking was observed under the dryer. The dryer was unplugged and the flames under the dryer extinguished with a small amount of water. The dryer door was then opened. Again flames were visible inside the drum which was full of clothes and towels. The fire inside the drum was extinguished with an additional small amount of water. M52 was requested via face to face to conduct a primary search or the residence and report their findings to operations. T53 provided horizontal ventilation of the structure through open doors and windows via smoke ejector. Fire was reported as extinguished and confirmed via TIC. Once the structure was clear of smoke, pictures and an investigation were performed. When the investigation was confirmed complete, the dryer was removed to the outside of the structure and slight overhaul of the 2 walls the dryer sat on performed.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Heavy Duty Crown Series Dryer

When sitting talking with family and friends, one of our friends smelled smoke. We investigated to find that smoke was coming from the dryer. We then observed flams coming from the lint trap and under the drum of the dryer. I ran to grab the fire extingusher and my son tried to put the fire out. He also unpluged the dryer, but it continued to burn. We then attemped a second extingusher and the resulted to using the garden hose. During this time the fire department was called. When the arrived on the scene the dryer was still burning as we could not get to the area under the drum. The fire department arrived and with the use of thier tools and extingushers were able to put out the fire. Per the fire department the fire was caused by the lint under the drum.
