The product, in the report: whirlpool duet electric dryer TYPE DADT-ELE-2406024-EL54 MOD WED9400SW2 MY3722661
at approximately, 330 est, my wife was transferring a small load of towels into our dryer. She went thru the motions, and hit the “on” button. She told me she heard something “weird” never did it before. I told her to power it down. As I went into the room where it was, I could smell a foul odor of burning plastic, and I immediately unplugged the unit. Smoke began to rise from the top cover of the unit, A Whirlpool duet, electric dryer. I instructed my wife to grab the extinguisher and a pair of pliers for me.
I loosened the top cap, and was immediately hit by a wall of smoke, from the burning circuitry, also in where Whirlpool decided that the service technicians papers should be kept. Those caught on fire as well. Please see attached pictures, as well as a quick 20 second video, of my poor wife, having an anxiety attack. Luckily, we were home, and prevented our home from being burned down. I have emailed, facebooked, and tweeted to Whirlpool corp, an hour after the incident, and I am awaiting their reply.
