The product, in the report: Whirlpool Electric Dryer Model Number: WED5500XWO Serial Number: M12249161 White 27 inches wide 29.5 inches deep 43.5 inches hide
While the dryer was operational, a fire broke out directly inside the top electronic control panel console. The fire was entirely contained within the internal control board components and wire harness, causing the plastic housing of the console to melt and char. There was no household lint accumulation in this area, nor were there any electrical faults or burn marks at the wall outlet or power cord.
The appliance suffered an internal component failure that led to an immediate electrical fire. Fortunately, the fire was caught early and did not spread to the surrounding structure, preventing widespread property damage or personal injury. The machine is completely inoperable and poses an extreme safety hazard.

The product, in the report: Whirlpool Cabrio dryer Mod#WED7600XW0
Purchased a Cabrio dryer from Sears. About 11 months later the dryer air flow light came on and clothes became very hot inside dryer. Checked for plugged vent and found no problem. Called Sears and they sent repairman. Repairman informed us of a factory problem where the vent belt pully was incorrectly tightened and they were having a lot of problems with the belt coming off. About 3months later same problem occurred. Called Sears again. No warrenty left, no warrenty left on previous repair. No recourse offered for an admitted factory problem. Called Whirlpool with same results as Sears. I repaired dryer myself. The pully for the vent belt had fallen off again. My concern is that the clothes become so hot that I feel there is a definite fire hazard. If this happens again and no one notices how do we know that there will not be a fire
