The product, in the report: It was described to me as triple shredded hardwood mulch. I am unsure of who supplied the mulch. However, the POA office would have documentation of the sales receipt with all information.
Our neighborhood POA replaced our community playground mulch on 4-24-26 with non-certified playground mulch. I was told by the POA it was triple shredded hardwood mulch with nothing added. However, from day one of placement this mulch had a horrible, rancid smell and was completely filthy. Its full of sharp pieces of wood. I spoke with the POA on multiple occasions and expressed my concerns regarding the safety of this mulch. They said they were misled as to what it was and would have it replaced. Now a month has gone by and this mulch is growing massive spots of mold over the entire playground surface. It is filled with gnats and still has a foul smell. Im concerned about the safety of children at play. The POA says they have no funds to rectify the situation now. I found out the supplier of the contaminated mulch was Southern Mulch & Stone in Sanford, NC.
