NHTSA received Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)’s report on Sep 18, 2023. Copied from NHTSA on Oct 19, 2026.
Every line below is in NHTSA’s own words, with its source beside it.
What’s wrong with it?
A disabled rearview image can decrease the driver’s visibility of the rear view, and disabled reverse lights may not alert others that the vehicle is reversing, increasing the risk of injury or crash.
Chrysler (FCA US), LLC is recalling certain 2022-2023 Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles equipped with a manual transmission.
The rearview camera may fail to display the rearview image and the reverse lights may not illuminate when the vehicle is placed in reverse.
As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 111, “Rear Visibility” and 108, “Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment.”

What the record doesn’t say
- NHTSA’s recall file doesn’t say whether anyone was hurt. Owners’ complaints are counted on each vehicle’s page.
- Whether one vehicle or seat has been fixed: only its maker, or NHTSA’s lookup with a VIN, can say.
- How many have been returned or fixed isn’t in the notice.
