The product, in the report: Halloween Craft Mosaic Pumpkin Trivet Kit - Mondo Llama: This trivet craft kit includes glass tiles, a pumpkin-shaped tray, plastic bowl, spreader and more. Create the mosaic pattern with colorful tiles, add the grout and place in on any flat surface for a beautiful look.
I am writing behalf of three children who suffered second-degree burns after using a product sold by Target called Mondo Llama Mosaic Trivet Kit (Mosaic Kit). Two of these children, a brother (7 years old) and a sister (10 years old), reside in [REDACTED]. The other young girl, their cousin (13 years old), resides in [REDACTED].
On Thursday, September 4th, 2025, four Mosaic Kits were purchased at a Target store located at [REDACTED], Merced, California 95348. Friday, September 12th, these four Mosaic Kits were assembled by five children. Saturday, September 13th, three of the children (2 girls and 1 boy) complained of pain and developed redness and itching on their hands.
Saturday evening, redness and skin irritation continued to increase for all three children.
On Sunday, September 14th, one of the injured girls was scheduled to return with her mother and sister to [REDACTED]. The mother intended to seek treatment in [REDACTED] with their local pediatrician, but while in-flight, the young girl complained of severe pain. When their plane arrived in [REDACTED] for a connecting flight, the mother sought treatment from a First Aid station at the [REDACTED] Airport. Paramedics attended to the young girl and recommended immediate treatment at the Pediatric Burn Center at [REDACTED].
The young girl was admitted to the Pediatric Burn Center where she was diagnosed with second-degree burns, placed under anesthesia, and underwent a debridement surgery. She was kept overnight in the Pediatric Burn Center for observation and returned to [REDACTED] on Monday, September 15th.
On Tuesday, September 16th, the two children living in [REDACTED], were driven by their father two hours away to be admitted to [REDACTED] Medical Center (which has a burn center with specialization in pediatrics), where they were both diagnosed with chemical burns. One of which was given Oxycodone, and underwent debridement surgery. Both of these children were released from the hospital with numerous prescriptions (pain, oral and surface antibiotics) and returned home on Tuesday.
It should be noted that written prominently on the front of the Mosaic Kit is the notice that this product is NON-TOXIC. The fact that this product is marketed at young children and potentially contains a toxic substance is very concerning.
