The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. First aid

Made Jun 23, 2022, sent to the company Jun 30, 2022, published by CPSC Jul 15, 2022

The product, in the report: Magicfly, clear 2 part epoxy resin for art and craft projects. Product label claims No VOCs and low odor. 32 oz kit purchased from Amazon. Product is made in China. Comes with a wide variety of tools and accessories. Product is made up of a 16 oz bottle of resin and a 16 oz bottle of hardener. Arrived boxed. Comes with an instruction manual that suggests using the product in an area with air movement and to wear protective gloves and goggles. As per the instruction manual, the product is a skin irritant, corrosive and can cause skin burns but does not clearly state this on the box or bottles. There are small pictograms but they are not highly visible.

This product claims to be low odor, but even working in a large space with good airflow and wearing an N95 mask, I could still smell this product.

There is very little warning on the packaging and on the bottles to indicate that the product is corrosive and can cause skin burns and irritation.

There is no SDS available on the website. The packaging states that the product has no VOCs, no BPA, and only requires safety goggles and protective gloves. The Amazon listing states it is non-toxic and safe. Without a proper SDS, I have no way of knowing if these claims are true or false.

There is no contact information other than an email address.

I experienced a skin rash although the product did not touch my skin.

I am concerned that even though the product claims to have no VOCS, it contains benzyl alcohol which is not a reactive ingredient and will leach out.
