  1. No one hurt

Made Jun 8, 2015, sent to the company Jun 15, 2015, published by CPSC Jul 7, 2015

The product, in the report: Sand that can be molded into shapes Model# 50106AIPM Bar Code 789881198

I purchased 2 boxes of “Kinetic Sand” at Toys r Us for my grandchildren. It is sold by “Spin Master”

http://www.spinmaster.com/Phone: US/Canada: 1-800-622-8339 Hours: Mon - Fri, 11 am - 7 pm E.S.T. Address: Spin Master Ltd. ATTN: Customer Care 450 Front Street West. Toronto, ON. Canada M5V1B6

I put one box in a plastic bowl and one box in an aluminum bowl each with hard plastic spoons. In less than 20 minutes, the sand in the aluminum bowl started to smoke. I could smell something on fire. I looked inside the bowl and not only was it smoking, it had burned a black hole in the plastic spoon. We were indoors but the sun was shining through the windows. I checked the box and the only warning given related to that is “adult supervision.”

I called their customer service and I thought they were concerned and told me I would receive an email with 24 hours with instructions on how to ship to them via UPS for testing. (Ref # [REDACTED]. They have not made any contact with me and I know they have the right email because I received a request to complete a survey.

I consider this an extreme danger - what if I hadn’t been in the room when it began to catch fire? Considering they have not contacted me - I assume they have no regard for their customer’s safety - and this is for children!
