The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Brookstone UpDraw 3D Sculpting Pen

I purchased the Brookstone Updraw pen for my nephew, aged 9. The product is rated as safe for ages 8+. He burnt his finger badly touching the tip. The tip measured a searing 350 degrees fahrenheit when we measured it afterwards. This is disgrace. This product is NOT safe for kids. This should be taken off the shelves immediately or at least made clear that it is not a toy for children.

It says “For ages 8 and up”. The only warning relates to small parts, not the extreme heat!
