The product, in the report: Elmira residential elevator. Per the manufacturer’s attorney, the elevator was not an “Elmira Plus.” A plate located on the elevator controller reads: “Model #: Hydrocam”
Ten year old child suffered a catastrophic brain injury when he became trapped in an Elmira residential elevator manufactured by Cambridge Elevating, Inc. out of Cambridge, Ontario (Canada). The incident occurred because the elevator was designed to run with the elevator car gate open, which is prohibited, and because there was no light curtain to prevent the car from moving when an obstruction exists between the elevator car and the hoistway doors/walls.
