The product, in the report: 2 products were involved in the incident- 1. Momcozy hot and cold gel pack (green, rectangular with printed Momcozy brand name on top with hot application, cold application, and warning messages printed on front). 2. Momcozy heated tummy wrap- soft green fuzzy wrap with [REDACTED] closure and inner pocket also with [REDACTED] closure to fit heat pack, panda face printed on front of wrap. The products were from the Momcozy All-in-1 Elite Baby kit. Here is the product’s website https://momcozy.com/collections/daily-care/products/momcozy-all-in-1-elite-baby-kit (purchased from Amazon- unable to copy the exact link from Amazon in this form because I keep getting this error message when I attempt to do so below “Only letters, numbers, space, hyphen, comma, and some other common characters are allowed.”
I was gifted the Momcozy All-in-1 Elite Baby Kit at our baby shower. Our baby is 5 weeks old, and we have used the tummy wrap 3 times. The third time we went to use it, he began crying and screaming heavily (after the wrap had been on for ~60 seconds), so I immediately took off the tummy wrap. I realized that the heat pack had burst at the seam and had soaked through the band and his onesie onto his skin. It caused a burn and irritation on his skin.
We followed all heating instructions (15 seconds) on the package for our microwave’s wattage. When we first got the pack, we made sure there were no rips, holes etc. After we heated the pack we did not see any gel oozing or any rips/punctures, etc before putting it in the wrap. The wrap wasn’t hot to the touch, just warm, before putting it on but when I picked up the wrap after taking it off I noticed it felt wet and hot in one spot, which is when I saw blue gel on the wrap and took out the pack, seeing that it had burst at the seam and leaked and went through the band and onsie onto the babys skin.
We were using the product according to manufacturer directions and for its intended purpose to help with his stomach upset. This defect caused a small burn and surrounding irritation to my sons skin (quarter sized). We brought him to the pediatrician, who said it was a mild first-degree heat and chemical burn. We have also notified Momcozy of the incident. We consider this tummy wrap to be unsafe and want to be sure this doesn’t happen to other infants.
We look forward to hearing your response.
