Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. First aid

Made Dec 18, 2012, sent to the company Jan 7, 2013, published by CPSC Jan 29, 2013

The product, in the report: thermal-Aid 100% NATURAL Heating and Cooling Pack. Beige Teddy Bear--called Honey. Costco UPC Code No.: 8-12249-01251-1.

On Sunday, December 16, 2012, my 15 year old daughter heated her new thermal-Aid teddy bear (Patent No.: 7,179,280-7,182,777-D525,365) which we bought at Costco (Costco UPC Code No.: 8-12249-0125-1) in the microwave for one minute as prescribed by the manufacturer’s instructions. Five minutes after heating the teddy bear, it went on fire. I had to quickly immerse the teddy bear under cold water for an extended period of time. I then had to open the windows in the house because it smelled of smoke. This product is extremely dangerous!!!!! It is not a safe product and should not be given to any child or individual. It should be taken off the market and any similar products should be removed as well. I am reporting this incident to prevent a potential death from the use of this product. I will take a picture of the teddy bear. There is a burnt black hole on the teddy bear’s face.
