  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Feb 2, 2012, sent to the company Feb 13, 2012, published by CPSC Mar 6, 2012

The product, in the report: This is a automatic hand dryer in the ladies public restroom.

Using the restroom at the Baby’s R Us Store i went to dry my hands with the automatic hand dryer and the sound was so piercing-ly loud that i believe that the use of this product damaged my hearing. I can not even discribe to you how loud and painful it was to hear this hand dryer function.

Made Dec 15, 2011, sent to the company Feb 7, 2012, published by CPSC Feb 29, 2012

The product, in the report: Xlerator hand dryers - the silver ones, in particular

The new xlerator hand dryers found in restrooms such as the Royal Farms store in [REDACTED] are piercingly and painfully loud. I have literally cried out in pain on a couple of occasions and have had to cover my ears on all where they are in use when I am in the restroom. I am shocked they are even legal at the volume they operate at. I cannot and will not use them due to their logic defying noise level and will leave the restroom with wet hands if need be.

The product, in the report: White or Chrome wall mounted hand dryer

Increasingly so a new generation on hand dryers in restrooms across America are being installed. Most popular installed the “ XLERATOR DRYER MODEL XL-SB”. I reside in California so I’m assuming they have also been installed in all Target Stores across America, check it out. Personally my hearing was compromised likley by one single event before this incident and I have been advised to be aware and stay away avoid loud noise and when warranted to wear ear protection to avoid additional hearing loss. The decibels emitting from this unit is ear piercing to me seems to be unsafe to me! I was in the rest room at a Target store and it was even painfully loud just sitting in the enclosed stall.
