The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No incident, no one hurt

Made Aug 31, 2026, sent to the company Sep 4, 2026, published by CPSC Sep 21, 2026

The product, in the report: The product is a black lunchbox, with dimensions being 5.9 inch, by 6.9 inch, by 10.2 inch. It has a zipper closure. The brand is Maelstrom.

I purchased a backpack/lunchbox set from Amazon advertised and sold as new for my child to use for school. Upon opening the lunchbox for the first time, I discovered multiple loose, unwrapped insulin needles/syringes inside the lunchbox, along with opened alcohol prep pads. These medical supplies were not part of the product and were not disclosed in the listing. The product was purchased for use by a child. A child could have reached into the lunchbox and been punctured by one of the exposed needles, creating a serious injury and potential bloodborne pathogen exposure hazard. I contacted Amazon Customer Service and reported the issue. Amazon did not appear to treat the presence of medical sharps inside a new children’s product as a product safety incident. I have photographs documenting the contents as they were discovered.
