As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. Hurt, care not known

Made Jul 18, 2022, sent to the company Aug 11, 2022, published by CPSC Aug 25, 2022

The product, in the report: Pet (cat) house

Caller is reporting that the pet product (cat house) has an overwhelming odor that while she was trying to put it together it made her feel ill. She stated that she contacted the company and they advised that she would be reimbursed. Caller stated that she had to discard the product due to the odor it emanated.

Caller feels that this product is a health hazard and should be reported.

However, there is one correction. I did not contact Trixie Pet Products as noted - I called Chewy the company with whom I placed the order and informed the chewy representative of the strong order of the cat ho. Today, I called Chewy once again to inform them about my complaint against the cat home manufacturer, Trixie Pet Products, Inc. and also to get more information. I do not have a computer which is why I couldn’t look up the information myself. The Chewy customer service representative accessed Trixie Pet Products’ web address: www.trixiepet.com and discovered that The Trixie Pet Home is treated with formaldehyde, a chemical preservative. She also said there was a warning to California residents that the substance can cause serious illness, including cancer. I’m assuming California maintains stricter standards regarding toxic preservatives than do other states. It appears I was smelling, and was sickened by, the formaldehyde odor. Neither I nor the Chewy representative could find a model/serial number, only an item number, which is 44094. Enclosed is the label from the Trixie Cat Home Packaging which clearly shows the product (after it is fully assembled). Again, thank you so very much for your concern in this matter. Should you require anything more from me, please do not hesitate to contact me. Very Truly yours.
