Emergency room Made Mar 23, 2025, sent to the company Mar 26, 2025, published by CPSC Apr 9, 2025
The product, in the report: So phresh Odor-lock crystals cat litter 15 or 30lb bag. Medium to larger pieces of crystal like rock. They some pieces are dark, light, and translucent in color.
I’ve been buying Sophresh Odor-lock crystal litter since August 2022 and ignored the high dust issue although the product says 99% dust free. Even though it made breathing a bit hard after changing his litter box i still bought it because its great at not tracking and smell is reduced to almost nothing. BUT...My cat has now developed respiratory issues that show on the xray from the vet because he’d once in a while cough like an asthmatic person. I just changed his litter and everytime , he’ll get a sneeze attack. Vet claimed he did have slight asthma when I took him in 2 months ago and crystals appeared in his urine 2 months after i started using this litter, August of 2022, and was told he shows slight signs of early kidney disease October 2022 I think becauseof the crystals. I experienced and continue to experience shortness of breath when I refill his litter box. I was prescribed an inhaler at the urgent care 01/2023. He had a sneeze attack today with his fresh litter box as he always does with a fresh box which I changed 2 days ago and like usual either find myself wheezing or with shortness of breath. I wish I would’ve pieced all of this sooner

Hurt, no treatment Made Aug 26, 2022, sent to the company Aug 30, 2022, published by CPSC Sep 14, 2022
The product, in the report: So phresh (petco brand) 30lb bag Odor-lock Crystal Cat litter Fast absorption and odor control Fragrance free 99% dust free (website says 100%) Low traction Light weight Low maintenance Large white bag with cat on front with alternating grey and blue wording with a small quarter circle on the bottom right side that is clear so you can see the litter.
I bought the petco brand sophresh odor lock crystals in the 30lb bag they advertise on bag 1.)99% dust free where the website says 100% dust free and it is the dustiest litter ever it chokes me and my cats out. Two of my cats have asthma and it put them into fits where I have to use their inhaler after every potty time which is excessive and expensive. This is a silica based litter and silica is dangerous if inhaled to much. 2. It states it’s low tracking on package. It is not. It has also caused harm to my pets feet and my own. The crystals are cut so large it’s almost like walking on broken glass. Very painful to walk across in the middle of the night. So you can see why it’s harmful to our fur babies. 3. It says fragrance free on the package and the litter smells so foul. It’s super shocking.
The company refuses to do anything about this and because I bought the bag 30+ days ago they refuse to do anything about this issue. I had to have surgery on 8/15/2022 and got this large bag of litter so that I did not have to leave my mandated bedrest to go to the store to get new litter every week. I did not start using it till this current week I opened it Monday 8/22/22 because I just used the last of my previous bag. I want to make shure this petco brand litter and any other so phresh product is heavily inspected to make sure that it’s not hurting anyone else’s fur babies.
