The product, in the report: Tidy Cats Breeze Cat Litter Pellets

I am submitting this report to raise awareness and seek immediate investigation into the Tidy Cats Breeze Cat Litter Pellets, manufactured and sold by Purina, due to severe and life-threatening health risks posed by this product. The product, containing Modernite Zeolite as the main ingredient, has been linked to numerous cases of serious illnesses and death in cats, as well as potential health risks to humans.

Summary of Health Concerns: 1. Harm to Cats: Several verified reviews on Amazon and other platforms have documented cases of cats ingesting these litter pellets, leading to critical health issues including severe non-regenerative anemia, kidney failure, heart failure, and death. In my personal experience, one of my cats ingested the Tidy Cats Breeze pellets and subsequently became gravely ill. X-rays revealed that his abdomen was filled with the pellets, which do not dissolve in water, making them impossible to pass naturally. Cats that ingest these pellets or lick their paws after using the litter are at risk of ingesting toxic substances released by the product. These substances have been linked to catastrophic health outcomes.

    2. Documented Cases and Evidence: Online reviews, social media groups, and direct outreach from other consumers highlight that my case is not isolated. Numerous cat owners have reported similar outcomes, with many cats succumbing to illness despite medical intervention. Published articles have drawn connections between zeolite, the primary component of these pellets, and various health issues in animals, including cancer, anemia, and organ failure.

    3. Risks to Humans: The dust generated by this litter poses serious health risks to humans, particularly pregnant women, children, and babies, who may inhale or come into contact with the dust. Given the widespread use of this product in households, the potential human exposure to the harmful effects of zeolite through inhalation or ingestion is concerning.

Purinas Response: When I contacted Purina regarding my cats illness caused by the ingestion of these pellets, they offered to cover my veterinary bills, but only under the condition that I sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). I refused to sign the NDA, as it became evident that Purina is aware of the risks posed by this product and has attempted to suppress information regarding the harm it causes. Despite numerous complaints from consumers, Purina continues to sell the product, seemingly prioritizing profit over the well-being of pets and consumers.

Financial and Emotional Impact: I have personally incurred thousands of dollars in veterinary bills trying to save my cat in 2022. Many other pet owners have reported similar financial burdens, while some have lost their pets altogether. The emotional toll on families who have lost their beloved pets to this dangerous product is immeasurable.

Call to Action: I urge the Consumer Product Safety Commission to investigate Purinas Tidy Cats Breeze Cat Litter Pellets and consider enforcing a recall due to the products toxicity. It is imperative that proper labeling and warnings are provided regarding the severe health risks associated with the use of this litter. Furthermore, the Commission should look into potential violations of consumer safety regulations, especially considering Purinas knowledge of the harm and their attempts to silence affected consumers with NDAs. This product continues to pose a serious threat to both cats and humans, and immediate action is necessary to prevent further harm.
