The product, in the report: Naturally Fresh’s Quick-Clumping Litter

I want to preface this review that I have been using Naturally Fresh’s Quick-Clumping Litter for nearly 10 years and have been a huge proponent of it. I have shared my positive experience with it with anyone who will listen and have encouraged some friends and family members to switch to this one over the past 10 years. The last time I visited my local Petco store to purchase cat litter. I noticed right away that something had changed with the bag. Whereas previously the bag had been very shiny glossy type finish, I noticed that it is now more of a Matt type finish and the bag indicates that it now includes a [REDACTED] seal, whereas it did not in the past. Beyond the bag when I first used cat litter from this new bag, I also could tell immediately that the product formulation has changed substantially. I noticed that the consistency of it is more fine and powdery versus it previously had more grip to it. I also noticed some sparkly type flecks that are in it that were not previously. WhileI made note of the change, itdidnt immediately set off any alarm bells. One week later when I went to change my cat litter, I was immediately struck by seeinga blue mold growing over about 40%of the surface area. The only time I had ever experienced something similar with the prior formulation was if I had waited two weeks between changing the litter, but even then I never saw that much mold in the litter box. I also noticed quite a bit of liquid standing on the surface. Again, the only time I had observed this in the past was if I had let the cat litter go unchanged for a couple weeks. The next thing that I noticed was starting about three minutes after I was finished changing the cat litter I started experiencing a violence sneezing fit. I couldnt stop sneezing for about five minutes straight and I needed to use a nasal spray, which I use only occasionally for acute allergy related issues. While it slowed down my feeling that I needed to sneeze, my sinuses were all worked up and I felt like I could blow my nose constantly for hours after changing the car litter. I have never experienced something like this when changing the prior formulation. I also started experiencing a mild burning sensation in my eyes within minutes after changing the cat litter. When I started feeling that burning sensation, I immediately connected the dots to a new unexplained eye irritation my 2 year old child stared experiencing 2 days after we started using the new formulation of this cat litter. My two year old started a brand new behavior where they are blinking much more forcefully than normal and leave their eyes closed for significantly longer when blinking then they have in the past. We have only observed them exhibiting this behavior while at home. This seems to point to the new cat litter as a likely culprit. Given all of the above, I regret to say that I cannot in good conscience, recommend the new formulation of this cat litter to anyone. In fact, I personally feel that this product poses an immediate health and safety risk and should be recalled based upon how it impacted the health of myself and my child.
