The product, in the report: The LALAHOME RealFountain DailyFresh Pet Fountain is a high-capacity, smart water dispenser designed to provide pets with continuous access to clean, fresh water. Primarily white with a sleek, modern design, the fountain measures approximately 15.7 x 9.8 x 15.7 inches and weighs about 9.9 pounds. It features a 10-liter clean water reservoir and a 6-liter waste water tank, supporting up to 10 days of fresh water supply. The unit includes multi-tiered drinking stations to suit pets of various sizes and preferences. Key features include RealPura 5X Filtration to remove fur, heavy metals, and impurities, as well as UVC sterilization to eliminate bacteria. The fountain uses OxygenZ technology to oxygenate water and encourage pets to drink more, while the DailyFresh system automatically renews water and prevents stagnation. The design is eco-friendly, allowing used water to be repurposed for growing cat grass. The fountain can be controlled remotely through the LALAHOME mobile app, which allows users to monitor water levels and track pet hydration. It also operates quietly, minimizing disruption for pets, and has a modular design for easy cleaning and maintenance.
I am writing to formally report a product safety concern regarding a pet water fountain I purchased through Indiegogo from a company called LaLaHome. The product presents a serious fire hazard, and the company has refused to take responsibility or provide a refund, despite evidence of the danger.
After only a few months of use, I discovered that the unit had stopped working. When I attempted to unplug it, I found that water had entered the power connection, causing it to short-circuit and burn. I observed visible burn marks and a fried plug, which could have easily started a fire. This design flaw is especially dangerous for households with pets that drink messily, as the plug is located in a vulnerable position where water naturally collects.
I contacted the company and provided detailed information and photographic evidence of the damage. I also explained the serious safety risk this poses not just to me, but to any customer who owns the product. However, the company responded dismissively and refused to issue a refund or acknowledge the defect.
