    The product, in the report: K&H PET PRODUCTS Thermo-Kitty Heated Cat Bed, Large, 20 Inches, Mocha/Tan color. Dimensions - 15.25 x 5.25 x 21.5 inches Bought on Amazon.https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HMVNXXS/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Model HP40P UPC 655199633708

I bought a K&H Pet Products 20 inch heated pet bed for our 14 year old black cat with arthritis. It arrived on December 28th & our cat developed a deep bond with the bed. He only ever left it to use the litter box, eat & drink. Otherwise he was in pure cushy bliss. I had the pet heating pad correctly inserted under the 6 inch cushion of the bed, plugged in & the cord gently tucked between our living room leather couch’s cushion and armrest so it wouldn’t get tangled, twisted, or possibly clawed by our cat. The information I’ve seen about the bed was that the heating pad was specifically designed for pets, & was pressure activated. Purportedly the heating pad would maintain a lower temperature when not in use. On Friday 1st January, we entered the living room to find our cat cowering under our Christmas tree, which was extremely unusual for him. There was a puddle of vomit next to him, & he was quite noticeably shaking. When I tried to approach him to see what was wrong, he hissed at me. I checked the pet bed & found it was soaking wet with urine, as was the couch underneath... all the way down to the flooring. At first I thought he must be dealing with a urinary tract infection, as he’s had those in the past. I unplugged the heating pad, separated it from the bed & washed the entire pet bed thoroughly. It wasn’t until Saturday night that I changed my mind, as our cat, [REDACTED], still wasn’t acting right. He wasn’t eating or drinking, or really moving for that matter. His hind legs barely worked. He had no strength to jump up onto furniture at all. He scuttled around as if he was trying to escape something that terrified him. He didn’t use his litter box, nor did he go anywhere else. On Sunday night, the 3rd, I found the burns. [REDACTED] wanted to jump up onto an old computer chair, but couldn’t, so I carefully scooped him up. He hissed AND tried to bite me. He NEVER does that unless he’s in a lot of pain. My one hand came away a little wet from where it’d been just behind his front legs. On Monday the 4th, I called our vet first thing & she had me drop [REDACTED] off for an examination. She found three distinct burns on his belly between his front and rear legs. They were severe. She had to gas him unconscious so she could clean & debride the burns. She gave him IV fluids & a strong antibiotic shot. Our vet isn’t sure how the burns were exactly caused, but I can’t find any breaks in the electrical cord or heating pad that would indicate he’d chewed or clawed into it. She did check, & he does not have a urinary tract or bladder infection. But the burns were definitely from the heating pad.
