As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

The product, in the report: IRIS Pet Carrier for Dog or Cat, Picnic Basket Design Product Details: Product Dimensions: 19.2 x 13 x 12.2 inches Shipping Weight: 6 pounds

This carrier has a FATAL design flaw. The first time I used this carrier was 7/4/12, Independence Day. As the fireworks started, my 11 pound docile cat popped the top and escaped into the closet. My first thought was that I had not closed the top lid correctly. WRONG! The next day, while on route to the vet, my cat popped the top open in the car. I quickly pulled over and scooted him back in and taped the lid shut. Once in the clinic’s parking lot, the main hinges came open while I was holding the carrier by the handles and my cat ESCAPED into the main street! Luckily, I was able to run though traffic and grab him. This is a major safety concern.

After writing a review of this life and death safety concern, I found many other reviews of the same product that described the exact same flaw.
