The product, in the report: the recent failure - Inkbird ITC-308 the previous two failures - InkBird IPT-2CH They are digital thermostats for controlling heat pads / heat strips for planting, brewing and reptiles - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08Y5JDYFY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
We used InkBird thermostats to control our reptile enclosures. Over the past few months we have had three of their devices fail. The failure was the exact same on all devices. Details: - Devices were set to maintain a temperature of 88 degrees Fahrenheit - The devices lost control and caused the heat pads to reach 102, 115, and 140 (where we caught the separate temperatures for the three failed devices). - The device probe was accurately reading the high temperatures but wasn’t doing anything to control it.
We were home for the first two failures and caught them in time but we were out for the evening for the third failure. It reached temperatures high enough to melt plastic in the enclosures and unfortunately killed 5 of our geckos.
All three devices failed shortly after their two year date of purchase. We were not even close to using the total wattage that the devices are rated for. We were in fact only using less than a third of their rated capacity. All were on separate circuits in the house.
I emailed InkBird to notify them and their solution was to attempt sending me a new device and couldn’t have cared less.
