Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

  1. No incident, no one hurt

Made Jan 4, 2021, sent to the company Feb 10, 2021, published by CPSC Feb 25, 2021

The product, in the report: Heated water bottle for rabbits

A relatively new farm innovators heated water bottle for rabbits tripped the GFI circuit. We checked it and found 110 VAC to neutral/ground at the drinking nipple. The product is poorly designed in that wiring connections can sit in pooled water as neither the base nor the connectors and waterproofed. We purchased three of these, two from Amazon and one from Tractor Supply. Attempted to post a review at Tractor Supply but review was rejected for containing “legally sensitive material”. So, Tractor Supply has chosen to hide the danger from their customers.

The product, in the report: Farm Innovators Inc. Heated Pet Mat

The Farm Innovators Inc. Heated Pet <at, a small heated mat for a cat or small dog to sleep on was used in my home for several weeks without incident. On 25-Feb-2012 I had noticed a strong odor of melted plastic in the room containing the product in question. Upon further investigation I noted that the Heated Pet Mat had partially melted. I immediately unplugged the mat attempted to remove it from the chair upon which it was placed only to find that it had fused (melted onto) the chair cushion.

Once the product had cooled enough to handle, I inspected the product. There appears to be no outward obvious reason why the product should have melted. The cat did not urinate on it (although I find it troubling that the product does not have a GFI plug since they should reasonably expect that an animal could possibly urinate on it, causing a short-circuit condition).
