  1. First aid

Made Jul 28, 2024, sent to the company Jul 31, 2024, published by CPSC Aug 14, 2024

The product, in the report: Philips Norelco Multigroomer All-in-One Trimmer Series 5000, 18 Piece Mens Grooming Kit, for Beard Face, Hair, Body Hair Trimmer for Men, No Blade Oil Needed, MG5750/49

We had purchased a “Philips Norelco Multigroomer All-in-One Trimmer Series 5000, 18 Piece Mens Grooming Kit, for Beard Face, Hair, Body Hair Trimmer for Men, No Blade Oil Needed, MG5750/49” from Amazon on 18th Feb this year 2024. On 20th July 2024, when the grommer had been charging in the bathroom for about 45 minutes or so, we heard a loud explosion and then the fire alarms went off. The trimmer had melted in the middle and set the toiletery basket on fire. It melted not from where the power cord plugs in but from the middle of the trimmer. the fire melted several items in the bathroom. Also as my wife tried to unplug the device, it burnt her fingers. The issue was reported to the manufacturer right away. They responded over email after 3-4 days and asked a lot of questions and sent a label to send the product back with an offer to replace the product after they receive the damaged product back from me. There was no suggested action for all the other damage the burst trimmer caused or for the physical injury that it caused to my wife. I also inquired about informing CPSC. I provided answers to their questions on July 24th but when asked about other questions, there has been no repsonse.
