First aid Made Dec 27, 2016, sent to the company Jan 10, 2017, published by CPSC Jan 26, 2017
The product, in the report: xtava Black Magic Curl Machine. Product Dimensions: 9.8 x 2.8 x 2.5 inches ; 1.1 pounds. Item model number: XT77.
Curling iron sucked up hair into the opening and would not release. This caused the device to heat up and burn hair, fingers, and come into close contact with the scalp (product heats to 380 degrees). The device had to be broken apart with pliers to release the hair- while attached to consumers head/hair. This was extremely traumatic. The device did not come with a warning or instruction for use. Once the device was broken apart, it was seen that the hair was wrapped around a motor and not the heating mechanism. The person who had to break open the device was also injured.
