The product, in the report: TIGI Wave Runner in Pink

Purchased a TIGI Brand “Wave Runner” for my hair this morning and came home to try it out and use it. Upon plugging it in and trying on low first, per instructions with the product, was not satisfied with the results. The product seemed very cool and I expected it to be hotter, so I turned it to high. I then took a strand of hair and began to use the product which was now approimately 1 inch from my head. Immediately a large white flash and a loud pop and crack was heard. I was startled and jumped back into a wall approximately a foot back. My boyfriend then ran into the room hearing the popping noise and found that the cord was severed from the product approximately 2 inches below where the cord joins the handle of the product. The cord was melted, severed and had tripped the GFI outlet. Had the cord been touching my face, I could have been burned or electricuted, or blinded from the flash of the arc. There was no water or moisture near the product at the time of use. The product was properly removed from its packaging, inspected, instructions read and plugged into wall for use.
