The product, in the report: Remington/Spectrum Hot Rollers. You plug the unit up ro heat the rollers.

The product is a Remington/Spectrum Hot Rollers unit. This morning I plugged it in and went into the shower. After a couple of minutes I heard the smoke detector go off. I pulled open the shower curtain and saw smoke throughout my apartment and the hot roller unit in flames. I was able to extinguish the fire. There were flames a foot high coming from the unit. The unit sat on my vanity and there was nothing around it that would have sparked the fire. It wasn’t a short because the breaker was not flipped off.

I contacted the company today and they told me the model (H9100) was not on recall. I explained the situation and sent them photos of the burned unit. I declined a replacement. I did request that they get back to me on how they will move forward. I can send you the pictures if you provide me with an email address.

I hope something can be done to recall this product. I have to emphasize that the unit was in flames, not simmering but on fire.

I was unable to upload the pictures to this site, If you send me an email address I can send them to you.

The product is a hair curler set, Remington T Studio - Thermaluxe with 4 years warranty. At the bottom of the box, Bar code: 07459064473, price $33.48 We bought it from Walmart near our house on 10/16/2016. My wife almost uses it every day. On 3/20 at around 7:30 am my wife put it on my dresser top in our master bedroom. She then plugged it to the outlet as normal and when to the bath room to prepare for a work day. About 5 minutes later, she heard some strange sounds like somebody knocking to the bedroom’s door. She looked out and found the hair curler started fire itself. We had to bring it to the shower and using water to stop it. It caused some damages to my bed room.

The product, in the report: Fuschia 1-1/2” Flat Iron (Remington) Product type: (flat iron/straightener)

This consumer is reporting her fuschia colored woman’s 1-1/2” (Remington) flat iron purchased approximately one year ago from Walmart in Virginia caught on fire.

The caller had no problems with this product until Wednesday, February 10th, 2016 when the caller was applying her makeup on another side of the vanity while her flat iron heated up, on the opposite side of the vanity when she heard crackling and looked over to see 3” to 4” blue flames coming from the flat iron on/off button on the inside of the handle.

She then saw smoke and electrical arching around the metal parts and moving through the electrical cord of the flat iron. She called for her son who immediately turned all power to the home off from the main circuit breaker then unplugged the unit (flat iron) and placed the unit in the sink to allow the fire to extinguish.

There are no injuries being reported

The caller has not contacted the manufacturer but does intend to contact them.

The product, in the report: Remington t studio hot roller set model h-9096

On the second use of Remington hot rollers model9096 the rollers and the clips started melting on the heating rail in the set. I just read online reviews of Remington hot rollers and this seems to be a common issue. It feels lime a safety issue on two fronts:the heating rail is fully exposed and the plastic components melt (possible fire hazard).

The product, in the report: as stated above Model #H-9000

My wife has a heated hair curler set made by Remington; Model #H-9000. It was plugged in when she moved it to use it and I just happen to glance in her direction when I heard and saw a spark from the back of the unit. We unplugged it immediately and could clearly see a burn mark left on the TV table it was on. The was no fire and the incident was over the moment it happened. I checked out the unit and it looks as though the cord became frayed where it enters the back of the unit near the base allowing the neutral and hot lines the come into contact with each other through the worn insulation.

The product, in the report: Ceramic hair rollers

Remington Pearl Ceramic Ultimate T Studio 20 hair rollers. 1. The ends of each roller will burn fingertips. They did mine. One would think that companies that make hair rollers would want to use a heat resistant plastic to make the ends out of, since they know their customers are in contact with the ends of the rollers than any other part of the roller.

    2. These rollers sit on metal rods that heat up each roller. The last time I used the product I was unaware that some of the rollers had come off their places in the rods. I plugged unit in and went went few feet away back into the bedroom to do a few things while I waited for them to heat up. When I came back into bathroom I instantly smelled melting/burning plastic, lifted up the lid and found the rollers that weren’t sitting on the rods like they should have been and the ends were in direct contact with the hot metal rods, and therefore melting as they were sitting against the rods. I unplugged it, carefully got the rollers back on the rods where they were supposed to be and swore to take it back after setting it down on my empty tub ledge to cool off. I had planned on taking it back to Target where I bought it but then I got worried that even if I told the return clerk about what happened and made sure to tell them that they do not need to put them back on the shelf since they are a safety/fire risk and the ends are damaged now and the metal rods have melted plastic in some places; that the clerk would forget to pass that on to the next employee that handled it and it would be put back on the shelf.

The product, in the report: Wet 2 Straight, flat iron

The consumer says that her grandaughter crawled into the bathroom. the flat iron was plugged into the outlet. The child pulled the cord, and the cord detached from the iron. Her granddaughter received an electrical burn. The consumer says that if a 9 month old 13 pound child can detach the cord from the iron than there is a serious problem with the iron. The consumer says that the child may need surgery to prevent the area between the thumb and the first finger in order to prevent the skin area between those two fingers from fusing together as it heals.
