The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made May 28, 2015, sent to the company Jun 8, 2015, published by CPSC Jun 23, 2015

The product, in the report: Flat Iron

Purchased Flat Iron Cortisio Model number CB125BSN made by Cortex USA Inc out of Miami FL in January 2015. I went to use it on May 14 2015 and it became extremely hot during use. It burnt both sides of my hair and my dresser that it was sitting on. I contacted the company on May 15th to report what had happened. They said they will replace it and that someone would get back to me. They got back with me the next day to say they would replace it for 24.95. When I flat out refused to pay the fee they decided to sent me one and have me return the defective one. They are unwilling to pay for damage to my hair (I have a written statement from my hairdresser) who states it will take 5-6 additional treatments to get my hair back to how it was before using this product that burnt my hair at 30.00 per treatment and I told them 50.00 to repaint the top of my dresser. At this point they have not communicated with me other than they want the defective one back. Personally I would rather sent that to you to have it checked out. Will never buy another product of Cortex USA again. This was an 80.00 Flat iron. I will attach pictures of my hair and damage to the dresser. Also you will see the sides of this got so hot they turned brown. This is a fire hazard.
