The product, in the report: BIC Razor for personal shave
I am a female, age 48. I contacted BIC on September 2nd evening (See message in quotes below). I wanted to share an experience with you which has bothered me a lot due to the quality of the the BIC Soleil razor brand that I used. This was a brand new razor, I was shaving in the shower as I normally do. During normal usage, the razor top broke, exposing a blade that bent and caused a severe laceration on my lower calf. The resulting gash required 23 stitches, which resulted in an injury detailed below. I am also attaching photos for your team to look at.
Msg that was sent to BIC on Sept 2, 2017 via Contact Us page and via email shopbic@bicworld.com:
“On Sept 2, 2017 while shaving my legs with a BIC Soleil razor, at a normal pace during my shower, with no force whatsoever, the plastic portion above the blade broke off, the blade popped out bent and ran through my skin as I moved the razor along my leg. A large chunk of flesh came out and there is a 25 cm long gash, lower portion where the flesh came out in a huge chunk. My leg was bleeding badly. I did not realize it until I saw the water turn red. I quickly stemmed the flow with a towel and tied it with a tourniquet, and rushed to the Emergency Room where they gave me local anesthesia, the wound required 23 stitches. I would like to bring this to the attention of the company. I have saved the razor and have photos of my wounds which I would like to send you. I don’t have the packaging of the product or UPC code, since this was the last razor in my Soleil pack and I had already thrown out the packaging. My Contact no is XXX-XXX-XXXX.
This is not something small, a lifelong scar of 10 inches will remain and I would like to make you aware of this problem. I have to take time off from work on Tuesday to see my PCP for a dressing change (due to long weekend in the US, Labor Day holiday) and will know how the wound is healing. The ER physicians at Newton Wellesley Hospital, Newton, MA also suggested that I contact BIC to make sure that this is not a quality problem.

The product, in the report: BIC Soleil disposable razor;
On 05/27/15 the consumer used the razor to shave her legs and under arms. The consumer used warm water and soap to shave. On 05/29/15 the consumer noticed 2 open wounds, one on the right leg and another on her left leg.
This was the first time the consumer used a BIC Soleil razor in over 2 years. The consumer use to use them and would always get open wounds on both her legs but during these past 2 years the consumer has not had an open wound. The consumer states she suffered from these open wounds for about 18 months while using BIC Soleil razors. The consumer visited many dermatologists to find what caused her to get the open wounds on her legs but she was never told a reason. With this recent incident the consumer has realized that the BIC Soleil razors are the cause for the open wounds on her legs. The consumer states the wounds vary in size and could be as small as a dime and as big as a quarter. The consumer states pus comes out of the wound and a little bit of blood.
The consumer believes these razors should be investigated because they pose a safety hazard. The consumer plans to have the razor tested.
The consumer only has the razor she used on 05/27/15 and no longer has the package where the razor came in. The consumer believes the razor was purchased approximately 4 years ago.
On 06/03/15 the consumer sent an email to the firm to inform them of her safety concerns. The consumer has not received a response as of today, 06/04/15.
Additions to report. These sores are extremely painful/sensitive to touch. Approx 1 tsp toseveral tablespoons of pus is exuded. It takes 4-6wks to resolve and heal leaving scar. The consumer currently has 1 remaining open sore from the incident on 5/27/15.
