  1. First aid

Made Jan 10, 2016, sent to the company Jan 19, 2016, published by CPSC Feb 12, 2016

The product, in the report: Wilson and Fisher 11’ Solar Umbrella, Big Lots Sku number 810169933

I purchased the Wilson and Fisher 11’ Solar Umbrella, Big Lots Sku number 810169933 at Big Lots in Metairie, LA and set up the umbrella on my patio by the pool. The second time the umbrella was being opened for shade at pool side the bracket broke as the umbrella was opening bringing it down on my head enclosing me in the umbrellas With the amount I paid for the product it should have been able to be used more than 1 time.

There were no serious injuries other than a few bruises, but I required assistance getting out of the collapsed umbrella after yelling for help from my husband.

Can a replacement umbrella be obtained, a refund offered, or at least a replacement part sent?

    Regards,

    [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Wilson and Fisher 11 ft. solar cantilever umbrella with underneath solar lighting, reddish in color, lights are white/clear

set up umbrella for the second time ever. The first time the plastic sleeve on the cantilever arm snapped. This time the entire unit snapped from the top of the pole and crashed down to the ground embedding one of the umbrella ribs into the ground and the other deep into the seat cushion of one of the chairs underneath it. This happened during a children’s pool party. FORTUNATELY no one was under it when it came down or they would have been seriously injured

The product, in the report: Wilson and Fisher 11’ Solar Umbrella, Big Lots Sku number 810169933

I set up a Wilson and Fisher, 11’ Outdoor, Solar Umbrella. It snapped and broke, and had I been sitting in the furniture with my baby (as I often do), it would have hit both of us. It’s a very heavy and item and would have seriously injured both of us! The piece that broke is a very poorly constructed piece of plastic that holds the entire umbrella up. If you look this product up on line and read the reviews, you’ll see a lot of other consumers reporting the same problem. It’s scary!!!
