No one hurt Made Apr 22, 2019, sent to the company May 13, 2019, published by CPSC May 28, 2019
The product, in the report: Large 11ft umbrella, metal structure on offset arm, pole and ribs. Base made of plastic. Consumer filled based with sand at instructions of 220 pounds.
This umbrella is extremely heavy, including it’s base, and with the slightest wind, the umbrella and base tip over. The location and angle has been adjusting, thinking perhaps it was a wind angle problem. The umbrella continued to tip and at one point, nearly missed my 3 year old son.
I called the company, Hampton Bay, and only offered to send replacement parts, even though I explained how the item was unsafe.

No one hurt Made Jun 24, 2015, sent to the company Jul 17, 2015, published by CPSC Aug 7, 2015
The product, in the report: Home Depot Hampton Bay 11’ beige offset umbrella [REDACTED]
I have purchase two Hampton Bay 11 offset umbrellas from the Home Depot in Clarksville TN. The main joint that holds the umbrella extender to the main pole is very weak. It is made out of pot metal and has not strength what so ever. I have owned 3 of these umbrellas as one was already replaced when it broke right away. The problem is that when the umbrella is extended and the slightest of breezes come up...like 1 to 2 knots, the umbrella twists and the “knuckle” explodes causing this huge 11’ umbrella to come crashing down. The first time it happened, my family were several feet away. The last time it happened, we were right under it it is almost hit us. I called the company and home depot and was told last year that they were aware of the issue. I have searched the internet and found that serveral other consumers have had the exact same problem. What bothers me is the company will not stand behind the product and also they have made no effort to correct the poor design. The continue to sell this junky product knowing it is flawed and dangerous! I have been emailing the management of home depot the last couple of days explaining the issue and the problems with the umbrella and the fact that nothing has been done to correct the poor design. This product is dangerous in my opinion and needs to be pulled from the market or fixed! [REDACTED]
