The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. First aid

Made Nov 27, 2013, sent to the company Dec 6, 2013, published by CPSC Dec 20, 2013

The product, in the report: folding umbrella with a pop-open button

the umbrella is extremely dangerous. the spring mechanism inside the handle is extremely powerful and this morning when I was attempting to close the umbrella the handle shot out and struck me in the upper chest area, knocking me backwards. The handle shoots out with such force that it is extremely dangerous, and I suffered an injury to the chest.

I am 35 years old and found this umbrella to be so difficult to use and dangerous that I am making a safety report for the first time in my life. I have never before reported any items but I feel this product is designed in such a way that it should not be on the market.

I will throw my umbrella away after just one use, because I fear my child could get seriously hurt if he tries to use it.

This is one of the most dangerous consumer products I have ever used.
