The product, in the report: Bliss stainless steel facial ice roller
My child was injured while using a Bliss Stainless Steel Ice Roller. The product packaging instructs consumers to store in fridge or freezer before use. I followed the manufacturers directions and stored the roller in the freezer.
After removing the roller from the freezer, my daughter placed the stainless steel roller against her lips and tongue. The frozen metal immediately adhered to the tissue, resulting in burn like injury to her lips and tongue. The incident caused significant pain and distress.
I was unaware that the product could become cold enough to cause this type of injury. The packaging did not contain any prominent warning regarding the risk of cold burns, tissue adhesion, frostbite-like injuries, or the dangers associated with direct contact between frozen stainless steel and the mouth. I also did not observe any age restrictions or warnings advising that children should not use the product without supervision.
The products instructions specifically recommend freezer storage, which may lead consumers to believe the product is safe to use immediately after removal from the freezer. In my opinion, the product should include clearer warnings regarding the risk of injury from contact with frozen metal, especially for children.
Product is Bliss Stainless Steel Ice Roller Brand: Bliss Product Type: Facial ice roller skincare tool
Injury Information
The injured person sustained burns/injury to the lips and tongue after contact with the frozen stainless steel roller. The injury occurred when the metal surface adhered to the tissue following use of the product as directed.
Safety Concern
The product instructions encourage freezer storage but do not adequately warn consumers about the risk of cold-related injuries from direct contact with frozen stainless steel. Additional warnings, age guidance, and usage instructions may help prevent similar injuries.
